Here we can see the result of different training, Mariusz Pudzianowski was a body builder before. And I bet Janne Virtannen has only done strength training, and oh Janne Virtannen is Finish. You can't compare them to normal people, they are like the oxes of man kind ;D.
When my father was bodybuilding he said that in the gym there would come these small skinny Finish guys shouting sisu(like a battlecry almost, like "I can do this" or "this will happen" sort of) then benching as much as guys twice their size.

If you make your legs straight, then you end up working the wrong muscles, iliopsoas specifically.

BTW Incase you're wondering, NO Mariusz is not on 'Roids. ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D heeeee...... You know... some naive kid may stumble in here and actually believe you.

I used to train for pure strength, but now have mixed it up for a combination of endurance and strength. It is a tough balancing act. Working too much cardio makes me weaker and too much weights makes me get tired faster.
