Lucky people, those of you living within US borders. I just got to know that the shipping costs to Europe for a single blade blank is whopping 180 dollars.... Dang! I don't know if this will help at all, but it seems that Albion has a Europe-based website here: www.albion-europe.com/I've found no hint of a 'moat' section though. And their Facebook updates ( www.facebook.com/pages/Albion-Europe-ApS/336997521775) don't seem to make any mention of it either. Sorry.

I didnt think Soeren from Albion-Europe will offer this sort of stuff. Soeren is the official Albion reseller here in europe. He order his swords direct from Albion US and sell them here in Europe. This way you have no trouble with import taxes, customs and so on. Soeren is a realy nice guy and great to work with. Best wishes, Meschler

I think the katana blades were from their canceled Highlander sword project (h1 h2 and h3). Just a guess based on what is selling in the unadvertised section filmswords.com/auction.htm I guess I could buy the parts and make myself an Albion Highlander, but I would much rather have the Original Screen-Used Valeria's Sword Prop (retractable blade) from Conan the Barbarian. Time to put in a bid.

I was lucky and made the 1st day's sale on Thurs. I received them today. Can't get any quicker.
I have some work to do but all the ones I got appear to be heat treated and are almost finished. One even has an edge.
After I clean them up a bit I'll post some pics. I also got in an order today for two guards and 2 pommels.

WEEEEEWT!
A new line of europeans are up today, a lot of them in pretty great shape. Snagged up 4 of em because they were all to beautiful to say no.
Now I'll need the knowledge of SBG to help me refurbish em =P
A grand THANK YOU to Dom for the heads up on this wonderful opportunity. If the broken blade, 9351 is still available tomorrow, I'll have to snag that up as well. It just looks so freakin cool. But if one of you gets it, that'd be grand as well.

Double kudos to Albion! (I just nabbed the 9353 broken blade.)
First for excellent customer service. Nothing like a pleasant conversation when ordering. Never owned something of theirs I ordered directly from them, but my few other interactions have been nice and I've heard good things from others on this forum and elsewhere.
Second for the customer goodwill this builds up among those like me, who often look at their product as "overpriced." Note the quotes, and how the term is arguable based on expectations and context. I just have often felt very satisfied with offerings from other makers as martial arts practice tools, especially sharps. Some need adjusting, and while functional differences might exist I often find them minor--and that me saying I can't properly practice would be hair-splitting. On top of that, hey, I grew up in Minnesota, gotta go w/ the hometown A&A boys whenever possible.
Don't get me wrong, if I felt like spending the money and was set in having no willingness to tweak and customize, I'd have many many more Albions. When I say "overpriced" I only mean for my own purposes, and actually will clearly state I do NOT think they need to adjust that much. (Everything under $1k is already perfectly reasonable.)
Buuuuut ... sharing these blanks w/ "the rest of us" (and hey, they might be clearing space and raising a few bucks but it can't be all that much) is very much an anti-"snobbishness" gesture, and I like it!

GOOD LORD!! Looks like most of the "clean" ones have been taken but DAMN. Some of those hollow ground ones, the "spatha"? blade and this freakin thing look very tempting: $30.00 for An albion blade with some surface rust??? My god. **EDIT** Wait. Holy S#*t. I'm calling dibs. Were you the one that got it in the end? If so, let us know how this blade turns out!

Were you the one that got it in the end? If so, let us know how this blade turns out! Unfortunately no. I was in class when the sale went up, and by the time I got out and called it was already gone. Oh well. It was a bit long anyway. If I really wanted to own one of my designs in steel I'll just go all the way and spring for a custom so I can get it just the way I imagined it.

Those blades went quick! I checked shortly after they were posted to see if I could pick up a couple of long-sword blades but they were all sold already. They also had a pair of Conan Fathers sword blades, one of which looked finished except for the etching on the blade and some rust. Looked like a chipped Beastmaster blade too. Very cool of Albion to offer this stuff for sale

9394 looked pretty wicked, I thought about placing a second order for it myself, but I didn't want to be greedy Do you think you'll shorten the length a bit to get rid of that notch on the tip, or do you plan to keep it?

Nope, i'll definitly try to keep it that way, or even accentuate it a bit, it gives it a more savage look Unless there's a crack near it.

Dang! A single edged viking sword too, and some nice fittings to go with it...
If there are more blades coming and one of you guys are there at the right time, please pick up a single edged viking sword for me if there are any. I'll pay $100 for it.

DANG YOU ICHIBAN! You would offer to pay 100 bucks on the sword I was most looking forward to getting. I'm rather sure I got this one: As far as I can tell, this was the blade for the "Beserker" sword they have: I had planned on restoring this blade to it's former beauty, but I may think about passing it on to ya. I think it would be wise for you to wait for the final end of the Moat sale. I haven't seen anything new posted today, but maybe they are slacking.
