Ok, Fighting without gloves is Assalt, Put your fist into a wall, and thats what you are doing with the swords by abusing them, they are not made for that as are your hands, when I use my fists, it is for very diferent reasons, and I dont hit walls with them....Sanmarc.

The Cold Steel machetes are dirt cheap and are very durable. If you just want to beat up stuff, why not use a CS machete? They even have one (which is discontinued, but still up for sale in some places) that looks very similar to the 300 swords. DSA and Gen2 probably make the toughest swords (because they have the most metal on the blades) but if you abuse them like Paul and other testers have done on a regular basis, you will probably break it eventually. A baseball bat would be another option for venting anger, since cutting whilst mad is unsafe. Just pretend that it is a club. Ooo yes CS kukri and magnum kukri machete...where would I be without them. I've got no particular interest in the 300 sword,I prefer the machaira and the magnum one is a spitting image,only if it was like twice as thick...how happy a man I would be.Now if it was twice as thick and (I know that's tought, just humor me) had a nice spine in the middle I would have the sword of my dreams man!This and a small shield and COME ON WORLD! As for baseball bats ,there is no such thing as baseball here but I made myself a really nice mace and it never betrays.Get yourself a mace a steel drum and an isolated place...nothing like it. BOOOONG! |

Quite a bit true...hey,you mind telling me what assalt is?Sorry,I'm a foreigner. I would say, that hitting a wooden or bamboo or even my steel sheet covered sandbag target should be closer to fist vs sandbag because the wall is probably a lot tougher than your fists whereas steel's "sandbag" should be around wood (not a log though) hardness.If it was fist against wall analogy I say sword against thick steel door or something which is crazy! |

Yannis, man, if I was you, I'd save my pennies, and pick up a DSA. I have the 12th Century 2-hander (the one with Militaris Templi written in the fuller), that one's the beatin'-est sword I know about. It's a heavy sucker, but it's way satisfying to swing it around, and it rings like a bell when you strike it. Also, build yourself a tire pell. That's the sword equivalent of working the heavy bag, and it's not that hard on your steel. It beats putting your fist through the wall, anyhow!

Videos like that make me wonder why we fuss over sword abuse so much. I don't see why swords can be made close to that indestructability, but it probably has something to do with the length of the blade.

Yeah length matters a bunch, but the magnum one shares pretty much similar results,not to much longer than this though. |

Assault is when you hit some one, with out boxing gloves on, with gloves on in the ring is accetpable, out side the ring, not.
The vid of the sword hitting into the cans is extreem, and is not what a sword is designd to do, they are showing just how tuff the sword is so you can get a long life out of it under normal conditions cutting tatami and watter filled bottles and so forth, not chopping wood witch you would use a Axe for, I have one of DSA swords, it is built like a tank, but I have my Viking axes for chopping up wood and other stuff....SanMarc.
