The hippies who ride bikes will be a delicacy to the post-apocalyptic cannibals, who will treasure their lean meats, naturally marinated in their briney non-bathed flavour.

Ha, they gotta catch 'em first! ;D I don't include myself, since even though I ride a bike or walk most everywhere, not even a squint-eyed bat would call me lean... Cheers marc E

You see the problem with eating hippie is simple - hippies are psychoactive.
While we may seem like a source of nice lean meat from all they bicycling, walking, hiking, and hitchhiking. All that organic food we eat is offset by a liberal quantity of psychoactive substances on a regular basis. Not to mention, if you by chance run across a "combat hippie" as opposed to a regular hippie - those are the ones that do all the heavy work and are well acquainted with axes, machetes, and knives and will fight back plus you have the sword wielding wives and girlfriends of said hippies. Last but not least, do you really want to think about what eating all that granola will do when we have that infamous "dying dump." And have you ever walked behind a "raw foodist"? Not a pleasant experience, let me tell you.

Tooth and Nail looks scarier than the usual zombie flick, since these are people that still have all of their intelligence and cunning, they just have lost all morals I am going to have to watch this one

Meeehhh... hippie's OK. Not my favorite by a long shot. But it'll do if you marinate it a long time and cook it slow until well done. Still gives me gas though...

BTW crazyforweapons and swordmonger7 "Tooth and Nail" is pretty intense. The After Dark Films "Horrorfest: Eight Movies to Die For" are all usually fairly decent. The first year was the best, but "Tooth and Nail" was a nice little gem from the second year.

...another interesting film along those lines (zombie style, but not zombie) would be the post-apocalyptic "Tooth and Nail" that after dark films had produced as part of their horrorfest series. The concept of civilization coming to a screeching halt because we ran out of gasoline is something I can actually see happening. Take away folks cars and many of them just don't know what to do. Or is that just my cynical sarcastic side showing? hmm... the concept sorta reminds me of some books I read recently. The cause for the apocalypse certainly isn't the same, but the effect on civilization seems to be similar. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Emberverse_series...most of my friends are a bit weirded out when I tell them I find the idea of society collapsing so fast that the population of North America is reduced to ~30 million people within a few years to be fascinating ...

I've heard of that series before. I think it might even have been in a post here at SBG. I'll have to get around to picking them up at some point.

Ok, I didn't know the one coming out was a remake. I'll have to catch the original before I see the new one. The concept of civilization coming to a screeching halt because we ran out of gasoline is something I can actually see happening. Take away folks cars and many of them just don't know what to do. Or is that just my cynical sarcastic side showing? I have just watched "The Road" which had a similar basic plot to this, post apocalyptic world with people turning to cannibalism to survive. The main character has a gun with him but only has two bullets, which he saving top use on himself and his son. I couldn’t help thinking that this is a film where the main character needs a bladed weapon, not a sword but a machete.

Yep. blades don't run out of bullets. And never underestimate how much damage a machete or axe can cause. 'The Road" sounds like it might be pretty decent.

The ones that never get exercise so the meat stays nice and tender Definitely the best steaks. ;D Anyone seen Book of Eli yet? Definitely an interesting lesson on cannibalism in an extremely inhospitable world. And a definite example of how a good sword, along with the skill to use it in general defense, is of HUGE value.

It's on my Netflix list. I want that machete/short sword Denzel Washinton's character carries.

here is a trailer for The Road, its not an action film and is a bit of a slow burner, so may not suit everyone.
