these have come up a few times, I've never handled one so cant give you any definitive comments. I think some of them look fun, and if your going to get something like this I think that’s the main thing. Get them because you like the look of them not because you are after a serious cutter

Ehhh, not exactly the price I'd pay, or designs I like. But having said that, honestly man I'd talk to BKS and see if they can do one at a little better price. I mean most of those pieces are just full tang with scales for the handle. Plus, acid could be used to "splay" the blade if you like that look. but 340 bucks for the "d captain" is a little excessive IMO. You'd be buying the look more than a functional piece. Again just MO. I'd see what Matt and Kerry can do before I ordered one from ZT. Then again, if you do buy one, I'd like to see a review. As it stands now I'm not too impressed with these, they look kinda like a gimmick.

The description of how they are made on their website sounds good. Some of the shapes are pretty nifty. I don't really care for the acid etched finish on most of them. I didn't think the prices were bad, though that would depend on how well made they actually are and how much finish work is put into them.
I agree with Avery that they look like a gimmick, which isn't necessarily bad, but could potentially be an excuse for poor workmanship. Based on the info they give on how they are made, there is also the potential there for some very good blades. I think I'd want to see one in person, or at least some better close-up pictures.

I would stick to a Cold Steel Battlemace, or one of their Polymer Warclubs.

They are a gimmick, and to tell the truth, just overpriced IMO. I'd ask Scorpion knives to do it affordably with a heat-treat and reputation I'm sure of. I mean, they look "cool"- but, really, for less I could get a weapon I'd be MORE sure of in case of Zombies. Not to mention a Boomstick

Seems awfully gimmicky to me. I mean, zombies are still people, and all the historical designs have worked pretty damn well for the last several hundred some-odd years. Suddenly these guys throw in the word "zombie" and try to reinvent the wheel?
Just kinda silly, IMHO.
Also, Aluminum scales for handles? Are you kidding me?

I'd give good odds that Archer could beat that price by a fair margin. He's got mad ideas and mad skills.
Lundemo could probably come up with something that would have a zombie pooting dust balls just seeing it.
Get Brenno to turn you out a blade, and have BrotherBanzai do you some bronze zombie head hilt work on it. BAM, work of art.
Call the Stagmers and give them license, and you may be surprised what they churn up in their workshop.
Stick with tried and true performers in other words.

Yeah I had already thought of the custom people we know and love for getting me a zombie apocalypse weapon I just thought these guys looked interesting and the techniques they be using sound good my only concern is the weight on the swords and the over pricing I think once I get my tax return I will talk to one or two of the people mentioned above

I have an aversion to being a guinea pig though, and think that the best way to avoid disappointment would be to stick with a known entity. Purely my opinion. You've been around enough to know what the what is, you could get the zombie slasher supreme made easily, and to your specs to boot. No one wants to wind up with a gnawed skull bone because they compromised on their Zombielypse gear!!!

Zombies are also fictional Are not! I know, that's what they all say before the undead are eating their brains. Of course after the undead have eaten their brains, their vocabulary is somewhat diminished. But yeah, too expensive. Some interesting stuff, but you're looking at fairly simple weapon/tool construction with high dollar prices. Their products could be good, but you can get similar stuff that is known to be good (some might even be great) for significantly less.

Re: Zombies-- Anyone considered Ollin sword design? ollinsworddesign.com/osd-zombie.html --and survival packs to boot ;D. I don't know anything about this forge; I'm wondering if someone here has bought from them. --Edward

they'd also have spectacularly bad balance. Well, zombies do stumble around quite a bit, maybe it is just easier to push them down and run away? Maybe it is the lack of inner ears that gives them such bad balance.
