It has come to my attention that Cold Steel's Horseman's basket hilted broadsword is being sold on X-mass special for $99.99 in the Cold Steel catalog. here's a link to one site that carries it at that price:

here's my review of the sword:
www.sword-buyers-guide.com/broad-sword.html
I would like to comment that while I found the blade a little floppy at the time I think I would not consider it so anymore. I did not have it properly sharpened at the time, and I was just learning how to cut with this sort of sword and was suffering from growing pains induced by trying to apply what I had learned from my years of rattan fighting to a real blade. and . . . well I wasn't doing so well back then.
I still have the sword I reviewed but it is now a sparring blunt and belongs to my wife. it has served its purpose as a sparring blunt VERY well and I see no reason to think it will not continue to give us many more years of good service. I am very happy with the sword in its current role and I am tempted to get another so I thought I'd pass this info on to the rest of the community. I think if this sword were properly sharpened it would cut pretty well. the Cold Steel Proof DVD I have shows this sword making some spectacular cuts.
even though the original review is no longer at the below URL the discussion around the review still is and some good points about the sword were made there. so here's the link for any who are curious:

I thought the sword was a good deal at just over $200 when I bought it and still agree with that but at $100 this sword is a VERY good deal. definitely worth a look.
