I know that many a forum-ite here has a full kit of armor. Or a kit that includes some form of armor. Let's see 'em!

Gaff, ok, they looked like the LOTR ones he has; there's matching greaves too but I didn't think they'd look right on me so, I never got them.

From looking at those two kits I am embarrassed to post mine. Mine has 3 years of hard wear and tear. All the straps are breaking and you can barely see the steel through the rust. I am working on new historically accurate 14th century armor though. SO, in spite of my emberasment over my dented and rusty kit I am going to post it with the caviote that I am working on a new one and will post it when it is finished in about 4 months if all goes well. It is being hand made just for me and the armory is 2 hours away, which is causing the long delays between fittings. Here is one from about 3 weeks ago just before I defeated the knight in the picture. Attachments:

Form follows function Trueswordsman. If it works and it works well, then damn but it looks good. I can see the attractiveness in that armor. Looks like it'd move well with you.

Yeah, after 3 years of constant use it is like wearing a second skin. I have gone from full arms down to just elbow cops and shoulder spaulders rather than the full articulated spaulders I used to wear. The rest (helm, legs, body) have not changed. This is what it looked like before I dropped the full arms and shoulders. It really slowed my arms down as it was heavy. The new elbow cops are just a single piece and made of stainless steel so they won't rust. I know it is cheating, but living in Florida makes impossible to keep the rust monster off. Oh yeah, in the picture I am holding a broken strap waiting for help to arrive in the form of a portable armor repair kit. Attachments:

After going to a few renfests in NY/Sterling forest,I really wanted something to wear for garb.I couldnt afford much so I made my own learning leather craft as I went.BTW this was at least 25 years ago and I still have it but it probably dosent fit my fat ass any more. I went to a fabric store for the fake fur and sewed it up on both sides and left arm holes and one for my head,I bought a few leather tools and a bunch of 10 oz leather (tough stuff to cut with scissors when your not used to it). I first cut everything out of construction paper to make sure it would fit then used it for templates.Well with a pair of brown boots from "Son of Sandler" and some old black renpants,a pair of brown vambraces I also made that held a dagger and a brown baldric it worked for a kind of viking thing. The thing in the middle of the curiass is a dragon belt buckle that I cut the back off so it mounted flush and it looked OK.Gotta do what you can if you dont have much cash. Tsafa, looks like you have put a good 14th century kit together. I really like the new legs. Are they aluminum?
Where did you get your gambeson?
Buliwyf, that is amazing you kept the kit all these years. I made my first one shortly after Braveheart came out in 1995. It looked like the coat of leather Mel Gibson wears into battle. I made that with scraps of leather I bought for $3 a pound. It is still in use today in the loaner armor box for my local shire. The best $60 odd dollars I ever spent.
