First off, nifty to see my one and only review see the light of day again. I agree with James. After everyone has voiced their opinion, the project lead and the fabricator need to act on that and make the tough decision about what this thing will be and look like. It's important to make something that people like, but it's also easy for a project like this to essentially "die" in committee while we all try to make it the exact sword each of us wants. I'm happy to share my opinion, but I recognize that some poor schmoe is going to have to make some tough choices eventually and I may not get 100% percent of my dream sword; but hey, 85% of "awesome!" is better than 100% of "dang we missed out" You can count in in for the SBG Fantasy Sword (again... ;D) barring a blade made from a Slinky and a pommel topped with a marshmellow Peep.

Glad to bring it forward once more... I love that sword. If I had my say, that sword would be the one for this project, hands down, end of disscussion. Of course, I am but one man... so I might not have my say... but I will have that sword, or one like it, at some point... be it as the SBG sword, or just another one-off. It will be mine, oh yes, it WILL be mine! ;D You still loving it just as much after all this time?

Absolutely.
My one-of-a-kind SBG prototype is a heck of a sword and I'd love to see what BKS could do if we set them loose with a little higher price tag and some of their new guards and pommels.
I wouldn't change much from it's dimensions; just make the handle a bit shorter and the blade a teeny bit longer and wider near the tip.
Would love to do another review; I have some new ink that would go great with a new SBG Fantasy Sword.

I can only imagen how much ink your sporting now. I only have one Tattoo... but I plan to have more. ;D Did you ever get a scabbard of any sort made for your SBG Fantasy prototype?

Well for me, as not so much a fan of fantasy sword but a fan I´m gonna be a fence sitter until I see a design.

Yes, but keep it at $350. 20 - 30 people spending that much should give some bargaining power.

Any idea of the time frame in getting these swords made? (if there is enough interest)

CB - We need Matt to answer your question. I've shot him an email. He can shed more light on the whole thing, and confirm the boundaries.

May I please Guide you all to this thread for design submissions: /index.cgi?action=display&board=projects&thread=12200&page=1
There are some templates there for sketches to be worked from. Submissions close Sunday 20th September at this stage, but that may be extended if really necessary. Get stuck into it.

I voted yes, but with the whole "no higher than $350". Just to get some things off my chest, I would love to see a great Euro stlye blade come out of SBG. Whether it be a Fantasy blade or a more historical blade. But, IMO, it must be done by someone who is up to the task, willing to go th extra mile to ensure delivery is prompt and on schedule and mostly, willing to keep an open dialouge. BKS, I think, would welcome this challenge. They have the resources, the vision and the ability to see this to fruition. Our forum seems to gravitate toward more of the Eastern influence, which is cool by me. But for us Euro folks, I think this is a great oppurtunity to come together in unison on a design and blade we all see take shape and form. Unfortunately, no matter how hard Bren, BKS and anyone else tries, not everyone will be happy with the outcome. Even with the ground work laid firmly by Brenn, there will always be folks who will want to "tweak it". My next paragraph is aimed( but not limited to) those guys and girls.
I voted yes because I trust the people who will design this sword. The people who know what they are doing when it comes to geometry, process, hilt assembly, cost and so on. I put my vote and faith firmly in their capable hands. I see no reason to offer my paltry advice when they are the ones who know how steel will act and give me the most bang for my buck. In closing, I would absolutely love to see this project happen, and if I can get my name on the list to get 1 of the first run, I consider myself lucky. I'll leave the designing to the folks who know what it takes, and if I don't like the end product,..... well, I won't buy it.

Did you both try to join right after one another, and from the same computer? Apparantly that doesn't work for some reason. Something to do with preventing multiple accounts per person. If you try again now, it should let you. I think it's just one account per IP address per day. I hope that helps, and thanks for taking a look at this project! ;D BTW... Count me in. -Slayer

I said yes, to the higher number- I'm not afraid to pay for quality; but I guess I should add that if I end up not liking the final design I will pull out. I am wondering what the costs will be considering the Stagmers will be forging each blade by hand- I think that's great but it can't be good for the overall cost of the project. I'm thinking the more folks we have on board, the better our choices will be...

I'm thinking the more folks we have on board, the better our choices will be... Well, the original prototype SBG Fantasy sword was made for 300 dollars... I talked to mat Awhile ago... and he said doing that sword and selling it for that now would be impossable... he suggested it would be more like 450. This was because I was interested in getting ong like that for myself. I suspect that if 20-30 of us or more wanted that sword it could be done around 450, but I do not belive 350 would be fessable... which is why I voted 450. I WANT that sword. Wel shall have to wait and see what Matt and Kerry have to say tho.
