Just to help out any other noobs like myself who may be reading this thread: The Tinker EMSHS (Early Medival Single Hand Sword) is #SH2404 The Tinker Bastard Sword is #SH2411 The Tinker Longsword is #SH2394 Sometimes it gets a little confusing for us beginners to sort through all the jargon and acronyms. ;D Also, the VA stuff: The Valiant Armory 'Atrim' Practical Arming Sword (one-handed) is #303S The Valiant Armory 'Atrim' Practical Long Sword (two-handed/hand-and-a-half) is #304S

Who needs an instructor when you can watch Mr. Harrison's videos?

Ok well from the learning curve abuse I have seen on both the practical and the tinker bastard sword as it gets plowed into pressure treated wood repeatedly, the hanwei just holds up better. Less sharpening, less adjustments, less chips having to be ground out and such. But as mentioned, it´s close. Also the adjustments seems to be stressing the VA faster then the hanwei...but I suspect that is a factor of blade geometry difference over HT difference mostly. Cool... VERY useful info. See, when I hear 'This one is better' or 'that one is better' without hear WHY that person thinks so, its just not very useful info to me ya know? Now between you and Chenessfan I have an idea of WHY you guys think the HT on the Hanwei/Tinker is a bit better, and why it is a more durable blade.

I love the AT 303 I own and I may be so forward I'd like to submit a little something of my own which I hope is better than worthless to you. Shooter Mike is indeed a wonderful cutter and I don't argue that, but you should study more than just one man. . . Sorry I was feeling a little left out

I'm sorry for leaving you out, Tom. Your review of the 303S is good, but I would like to see one of the newest generation. Your videos are good too.

Karma to Alvin for showing Ric some love. Ahhhh...Rick already knows that I love him !! But, thanks for the Karma !!!! Now, if I can just get 15 more, I think that I'll have enough that, when put with 9 1/2 Quetzales, I'll be able to buy a cup 'o coffee at the coffee shop near the central park ! Just joking, thanks.

So now, instead of just crying tears of sad envy at ShooterMike's amazing collection of swords... we can all cry tears of sorrow that our cutting is not as sough after by the masses as his is also? ;D

. You guys crack me up ! A bunch of real "cutters". ;D I had to cut Shooter Mike some slack because he is from Texas. Tom, I've been watching your sharpening school as well as your cutting technique. I'm going to hone this 303 before it touches a thing, as I do with all my blades. My 1x30 is ready to go ! Ric, that review of yours was a big part of why I chose the 303. Also for getting started in cutting to begin with. Any man that is having enough fun to stand in the rain while doing it, gets my vote. Yeah, I'll take that Hawaiian Punch. dxr .

Late to the party, as usual... For the record, Tom Kinder is a better cutter than me... of any target types. He's just not as pretty as me. Thanks for the slack, Doc. We Texicans gotta stick together. I have been lucky enough to handle, cut with, and otherwise abuse and test 11 Valiant Armoury swords from the practical and signature line. I only have two Hanwei Tinker line swords, the longsword and a Viking. The Hanwei blades might be a touch harder, but I couldn't really quantify or notice the difference in use. They are all darned nice swords, and very well made blades. I think they are all good swords. The VA edges have obviously been more consistent. But that isn't enough to keep me from buying a Hanwei tinker line sword. And that's my 2 cents worth...

Poor Ric. I forgot about him too. To make sure that nobody else feels left out, I think that everyone who cuts is a great cutter. ShooterMike appoves of the Hanwei Tinker swords, so that's enough for me.

. I received my Valiant Armoury AT303BR yesterday. I'm very impressed with it ! Beautiful sword and SHARP. Paper slicing sharp. The sword handles beautifully to me. Light and quick. I haven't cut anything with it, but will soon. I really like the color of the grip and the scabbard. They match well. The whole kit has a righteous look to it. Beauty and business all together here. Nuttin' fancy, but still very appealing because of it's excellent execution. I took some distal taper measurements on this sword for another thread, but thought I would include them here. I took six measurements of the blade thickness, starting right at the cross and then every 5 inches out. This would locate the last measurement 1 inch from the tip. Here are those measurements -- They were taken at the maximum of thickness, right at top edge of the fuller. 0.254 " 0.216 " 0.175 " 0.169 " 0.141 " 0.135 " 0.122 " The sword weighs exactly 2 pounds and 2.8 ounces. I'm pleased as punch with this sword ! Thanks for all your help in my quest for this sword. best, dxr
