That's another good sword. I will probably end up with all of Hanwei's Tinker line swords eventually, lol.

I have Kokoro's bastard sword in hand (well no actually since it is at home and I am at work) and if what I am seeing is standard for the line, and I think it is, I would give this advice: buy your H/T line swords but get them customized through Valiant Armory with a new grip and if possible a new scabard too. I am really not liking the scabbards and grips I'm seeing on the H/T line. I'm very glad I got mine as a bare blade and did my own work.

I would love to have VA customize my swords, but that is not possible for me at this time.

I couldn't agree more, I would swap my tinker viking with Sonny's version in a heartbeat ;D If I do order another complete sword from the tinkerline I will definitely go to them first. Especially for the touched up edges and the improved grip.

does Valiant touch up the edges of the Tinker swords they work with? I didn't think so, but maybe I missed something.
EDIT: frome Valiant web site: "On this one we: 1. Changing the finish on the blade to a finer sheen and touched up the edge. 2. We gave the fittings a satin finish instead of the high gloss that is standard. 3. Stripped the leather off and added risers for accent. 4. Slight reshaping of the Handle 5. Dyed the leather a deep antique Brown."
so the answer is YES they DO.
yup that would be the way to go. I think it would be really funny if Valiant Armory became the leading seller of Hanwei/Tinker line swords. ;D I know that's where I'll buy mine when I want a full kit.

Oooooooo....the best of both worlds if you want a viking sword.....new ideas swirling in my head.....maybe I should hold off on buying a bristol and go for a VA-customized H/T viking when I have the money......Hrmmmm........

Hmm I would wait on the hedemark if I was you. Better overal finish and belt suspension, and personally I like the hilt more. But then again, you could get this on the Tinker if you got it from the VA custom shop.

On the VA question, Yes, Sonny does put a different finish on the blades and touches up the edges on the CH Tinker customizations.
