ok guys and gals, it seems to me there is still significant concern regarding the edges on the Hanwei/Tinker sword line.
I want to put these concerns to bed once and for all. I want to see and review each and every Hanwei/Tinker line sword for the community so we can all see what the condition of each blade is. so I have made this offer:
ANYONE who wants to get a new Hanwei/Tinker line sword that I have not seen may order it from Wiwingti (and only Wiwingti), ship it to me so I can review it and sharpen it up. I will pay shipping from me to you within the contenental USA. you must PM me first and receive confirmation. I will only make this offer for ONE sword of each type (EMSHS does not qualify but all other Tinker line Hanwei do) all swords must be to me by Sep 11th. This offer is FIRST COME FIRST SERVED as judged by PM time stamp. nothing is confirmed until you get a PM from me saying you are confirmed.
/index.cgi?board=swordreviews&action=display&thread=11826&page=5#197390
to sum up:
step 1: contact me stating you are interested in buying a Hanwei/Tinker line sword and stating which one(s).
Step 2: I send you a PM confirming that the model you want is open for review. (any H/T sword I have not commited to review will be available)
Step 3: you buy the stated Tinker/Hanwei sword from Wiwingtiswordsupply.com and have it shipped to me to arrive no later than Sep 11th
Step 4: I do a full review on that sword for SBG forum including cutting water bottles and tatami.
Step 5: I sharpen the sword.
Step 6: I then ship the sword to you at my cost (so long as you are in the contiguous 48 states of the USA)

I have to say, if no one gets the GSoW just for this offer, they're crazy. Hell, I'm over here counting my funds and hoping my insurance bill comes late enough that I can afford this...
Hell of an offer Tom.

Jonathan, I'm shocked!!! You actually decided to buy two swords!! WTF is going on?
Noooo, just kidding. I'm glad you picked two very nice swords. You'll have a LOT of fun, I'm sure. Now I'm waiting for Tom's reviews.

While I'm glad to hear young Joanathan decided on some blades... I do find the choice odd. 2 Single handed type X the swords... a Norman and a Viking... just seems a bit redundant for the first blades. Ah well.

Uh, I'd need to see a receipt of some kind on Jonathan's behalf...otherwise I think he's just selling wolf tickets. LOL
Tom, what an awesome offer...too bad none of these are on the books for me, at least not this year looks like. I have another project I'm about to begin which is gonna tie up most of my available funds...that includes beer money.
*dreadful sigh*
lol

He should have taken the VA LS and one of the tinker line. Well, I think he'll get a longsword with his next purchase.

I am going to be getting a longsword. I have not decided which one yet, though. I was going to get the 304S at the time when I PMed Tom, and he is only doing this with the H/T line. However, now I am considering the Tinker LS. So my mind is not finalized yet.

VA. Period. The VA swords don't NEED sharpening... And the Tinker one is way too pointy for me. -Slayer

I plan on getting two type X swords, so the thought of having a two handed cutting sword seems like over-kill.

Two-handed cutting swords and one handed cutting swords are TOTALLY DIFFERENT THINGS! I'd take a 2-handed cutter any day, myself, but you really need one of each to learn which you prefer, and to learn how to cut with both types. I admit to having neglected the single-handed aspect of my armory up until now, but still.... That doesn't mean that you should neglect the dual handed aspect of yours! ;D Trust me, getting the VA304S would NOT be overkill in the slightest. -Slayer

Perhaps. I have not actually ordered any swords yet, but I will as soon as possible.

Jonathan, you made a good choice and I'm glad you finally did. I'm sure they are not too similar swords to have, if nothing else because of fittings...

I thought about going with the EMSHS instead of the Norman, but I really want a sword that historically fits in with all four of the crusades. I also want a norse sword, which is why I am getting the viking. As for the longsword - I am undecided.

I have similar interests. At the moment I have Hanwei Tinker Viking, Del Tin St.Maurice of Turin and Del Tin 2142 greatsword which is on a rehilting now. I'll show custom hilt for it when it's done. It will be octagonal pommel and spike hilt like on XIIIa 11. from the Records of the Medieval Sword. (Inspiration for A&A 12th century sword, Gen2 Templar, Norman and some others...)

At the beginning of my quest for a sword, I was going to buy the Gen2 Templar. This was before I stumbled across the forums. The 12th century sword is probably my favorite out of all the A&A swords.
