Pretty nice. But if I had that kinda money to drop on a fantasy sword, I'd buy Brendan's version in a heartbeat: www.fableblades.com/Anduril.html And then I'd still have enough to buy a half dozen Albions to mess around with. It's certainly a stunning piece, but there is no way the value for money element is there. Just my $0.02. I totally agree with Lunaman i could buy Brenno's Anduril for les and still have cash to play with. Hell i could buy both Albion Conan swords for that. Far better choice for me. ;D

That's a good video. At least it shows that he uses spring steel and hardens the blade. The question is if there's anything left of that hardness in the end. When grinding the blades it looks like they got way to hot; look at the water vapor. From my experience if the blade gets that hot you messed up the temper. Also, the "pommel" is only epoxied in place so I don't think this sword is functional. After all, I think you can get swords that function way better for much less (Tinker, etc.) However, his skills are amazing nonetheless.

I hear that. You can't deny--the man has got some skills. And some pretty fancy tools to work with.

I'm thinking Lyon's swords are getting a lot of flack just because of the crappy United Cutlery versions, but you don't scorn the Albion Atlantean just because some chinese forges churn out a few cheapies based on it. No one bags on high-end katana just because a few kids think their 20 dollar wallhanger can chop iron. I'm thinking this too. To be honest I'm a little perplexed.

Well, water boils at 212 F. That's not near hot enough to ruin the temper. I didn't see any color on the blade before he dunked it in water, that would be a sign that the blade was too hot. Actually, with the exception of the grip and epoxied pommel, that looks pretty similar to how Tinker makes his blades.

I guess you're right about that, I didn't see any color on the blade either... still, that epoxied pommel really is a deal breaker. Doesn't matter if the blade's the best, if the grip flys apart there's nothing you can do. But these aren't meant to be functional anyways. Let's face it, it's a very pricey, high quality SLO. Damn, he could make so nice, functional blades. That's waste of spring steel in my opinion.

Just to point out a detail. I know the pommel in the video was just epoxied on but that is likely only because the pommel on sting is practically just a cap. I saw the original swords when they were on exhibit and I distinctly remember weeing a peen on the sword for king theoden. So I doubt what the video shows is completely accurate for all the swords.

I didn't see how the grip was attached, maybe the hilt is held on by something other than the pommel? I think they're meant to be usable works of collector art.

We commonly call attractive swords "sword porn" right here on SBG. I don't see how the term "porn" could possibly be offensive enough to warrant you wishing those people would kill themselves.
