Wow! Do you think he'd let you snap some pics and you could share with us your impressions? It's be great to see what a $9000 sword is like.

Yeah once of the office mates got a video of it, I dont think its been put on YouTube yet. He got the non-mirror polish, evidently you can "custom" the sword with different finishes. GORGEOUS sword. Worth the money? Not really in my opinion, but def made with love, and you'd probably be hard pressed to find a better functional sword of that caliber.

What dries me nuts about this is that the people who buy them will mostly likely just be collectors of movie stuff and won't ahve any appreciation of them as swords. They'll sit in nice display cases and never even be touched.
That Andruil does weigh an awful lot, but the point of balance sounds good. I think I'd rather get a car though.

Speaking of LOTR swords and collectors. I am running a 'work in progress' thread over at the Weta Fans Collectors forum "Sahdow and Flame" of the construction of my Strider sword I am making. I'm also trying to offer it as a bit of education to them as to what makes a real sword, though I doubt they care. If anyone wants to check it out it's here: www.wetacollectors.com/forum/showthread.php?t=34328

Just took a look and read through your work in progress with the Rangers sword mate. I found that not only very interesting but also very informative. I really enjoyed looking at the pics from rough to smooth so to speak and i loved the pics of your workshop. It has a great rustic look and to think so many beautiful swords all came from and started their lives there, inc mine.
I looked over the leather mate and for what it's worth for me i'd go woth either 1 or 4.
Great work. ;D

Aww man Bren, you do realise that I am probably going to have to buy this sword right? It is my favourite LoTR sword. In terms of grip, you know I am a man of wooden handles but that green leather looks really nice. Considering I own two of your pieces and have seen your progression since you first started, I have to say that that is the best blade you have turned out, I don't even mind the fuller. Great work mate, can't wait to see her done, then I'll have to find a way to buy her!

*spoken in Homer Simpson voice* OHMYGODOHMYGODOHMYGODOHMYGODOHMYGODOHMYGODOHMYGOD!!!!!! That ranger sword is going to be AMAZING! Gah! But you have to go with dark green leather for the grip, mate. It won't be a ranger sword without it! Maybe if you can't find the exact color, you could work with some options for dying it? I know Yedoldegaffer uses dye from Tandy Leather Factory for his stuff. Could that work? www.tandyleatherfactory.com/search/searchresults/2650-01.aspx?feature=Product_2&kw=dark+greenOne way or another, that is going to be one AWESOME sword. Great work! +1

Something else to consider is that all 3 times Tolkien tells us about a balrog getting killed the guy who does it ends up dead as well, so I think I'll just stick to orcs, which are pretty easy to run over, thanks. Nice work on that ranger sword there. If you're thinking of using the eco-flo dye I'd recommend thier "emerald green," which is what I used for my Windlass type XIV here.

I've yet to meet Pete Lyon, he's not around much

I've yet to meet Pete Lyon, he's not around much I'm not talking about the people making them, I meant that I expect most of the customers will simply be thinking of the swords as nothing more than movie memorabilia for adding to their display cases, though I'm sure there's bound to be a couple who want them as actual swords.

Wow, I've gotta say the guard looks a TON better than I expected without the little rain-guard-thingy. It's seriously shaping up awesome, Bren. I'd love to get a hold of this, but I'd have to sell my Knight to get it. =(
