Have you even handled a western sword, bastard or two handed? If you haven't handled them then you are better off training and learning with the lighter VA LS and then move onto the GSoW, then at least you know what to expect. Nothing like spending ages deciding on a sword, thinking it will be all that, buying it and being disappointed, which unfortunately does happen.

That is my biggest problem. I have never handled a real sword, so I don't know for sure if I will like a big XIIIa better than an agile XIIa. To be safe, I will more than likely get the VA LS, but I still hope to at least wait for a review on the GSOW.

I've always cut with hand and half or two handers and got pretty good at it.Lately my last couple of swords are single handers and it seems to be a whole different cutting style,hand/arm position.I cant quite get the correct position for a one handed cut.I tend to turn the blade halfway through the cut and end up batting the bottle for a home run but I'm ok making a backcut.I'm getting the hang of it but it;s harder for me to cut with one handers anybody else notice the differance between single handers and two handers.

Yeah, I'm too more comfortable cutting with two handers although I love some of the more powerful singlehanders.

Odins a great name'I wanted a viking/norse name for Goliath so bad, even Thor and Odin were thoughts.I checked Wikipedia for a week looking for a cool Norse gods name even when we picked him up at the breeders and got home still no name.I put him down in the house when we got home and for some reason i called him G the wife said what does G mean and right away Goliath came out of my mouth.Hell I didnt know he was going to be 7 ft tall and 194 lbs so Goliath fits. It's hard to tell in the picture but Buliwyf looks like the wish dragon Falcor from the never ending story but you never know what they are going to look like when they grow up.I really liked the thirteenth warrior so buliwyf fits him well. I've been married for lots of years but I'll tell you nothing works better for meeting girls than a dog.

Any sort of spangenhelm with nasal guard would be a go, I got my eye on a cheap 16gauge hanwei one, measure around your head including the tips of your ears and thats the helm circumference you should go for, then ensure you get one thats not more the .5 inches more and certainly not any less. Helms have to fit good or their useless

These helmets must be one size fits all. I hope the inside liner helps the fit, and that I don't get wacked in the head! Thanks for the info on fit, if it doth not fit right, I'll have to scavenge one off the battle field!!!

Thank you for the informative posts, Phrozin. Welcome to the SBG forums. I am having a hard time deciding if I want the Hanwei Norman, Medieval, or Viking. They are three good swords.
