Progress Report: I have just completed BB's Barbarian Blade. It's virtually identical to the Destroyer blade of his craft, just without the little tags/ ears at the base of the edge, and slightly shorter. I also received a very joy inducing and heavy parcel from the US yesterday, with the parts for my Atlantean, a new Father's, and my revised Rhindon parts. So I am a happy camper with a lot on his plate BB's Blade: i232.photobucket.com/albums/ee149/brennyo2/AtlanteanBlade_0005.jpg [/IMG] mmmm
I can.t wait to see this finished!

Getting sued for copyright infringment..heh. Nice. What you talking bout Willis? We haven't offered any of these up for sale for a profit. If a couple of craftspersons want to make their own swords for their own personal enjoyment I don't see the problem. nice webster reference. now your gona get sued for that too, lol

Yep that was Different strokes! I doubt they could do much to two guys who made a couple of fantastic swords for themselves I'm not a lawyer, but as I understand it as long as they did not offer for sale unauthorized duplications of the original swords, they can make as many for themselves and their personal enjoyment as they wish without fear.

They could sell those swords as 'fantasy' or as 'inspired creations based on the movie' and it would be perfectly legal. What they may not do, is advertise them as The Conan sword as that is trademarked and would be a case for infringement. Hell, they could just sell it as the Barbarian or Warlord sword and also be to the good. Since they're not selling it, the point is moot.
BB, Brenno- one word...STUNNING.

Thanks Ebon Yeah, there were just too many different answers I was getting and too much vagueness about whether or not it would be ok to advertise them for sale. Hence the decision to err on the side of caution. Anyway, I finished the version with Brendan's blade. I wanted this one to look more like the sword that was used in the first movie. So it's shorter than the blade I made and has a cotton cord wrapped grip instead of leather. You can see that this blade doesn't have the little flared bits at the ends of the langets. Brendan's stock doesn't come wide enough to make them as part of the blade. For that reason, the design I sent him for this blade is a bit different and has the blade flowing smoothly out from the langets. I think it looks pretty good like that. Here's the stats: Overall length: 39 3/4 inches (1 1/4 shorter than mine) Blade length: 28 inches (3/4 stm) Grip length: 6 1/4 inches (1/2 stm) POB: 4 1/4 inches from the grip (1/4 closer tm) Weight: 6 lbs 6 oz (2 oz lighter tm) The blade has more profile taper than the one I made and the point is more acute. The cop is a couple inches further from the tip because of this. The fullers have softer edges but are perfectly straight. Here they are together. Hmph, I think I like the way Brendan's blade looks better

hehe ! The flared bits look better on yours as also the extended grip, but down the langets to tip of the blade i prefer Brendan's blade more. Will there be any etching done on Brendan's blade ? Both are magnificient pieces of work anyway !

Absolutely beautiful aren't they. I wanna swing 'em round but BB has them both in his grubby little mitts... As for selling some. If someone wants an unauthorised imaginary interpretation of the Swords from an unnamed movie made for their enjoyment, well, they know where to come. Here's my weblisting and some more photo's for you all: www.fableblades.com/King%20of%20Kingdom%20Lost.html

I have been eagerly waiting for this moment for some time now even though it is soul destroying as like so many of the guys here i'd take on an army of Vanir for one.
Really Brendan , Jeff i am in awe they really are amazing works of art and i do mean art. You guys are masters! Jeff as far as bronze sculpture is concerned you are a force to be reckoned with and i'd love to be a pupil under your tuition. Same goes for you Brendan mate that is a stunning blade and as a proud owner of a sword made by you guys i can't speak highly enough of your work.
As to the swords i have to say i prefer Brenno's vesion because i think the flow of the blade is for me a little smoother and also i always prefered the Atlantean of the first movie as i thought the extra blade and grip length gave it a less powerful appearance. I Like it more without the little tags. I do really love the leather wrap grip on your destroyer Bb and i like your's better than thee movie destroyer sword as the strengh of your's doesn't seem compramised.
Wow!!!!!!!!!

Another little guy who never grew; doin the reality tv circuit nowadays. Back to the swords...I actually like the one with Brenno's blade better...the 'missing' flared bits actually make that sword look better in my eyes.
Well done, the both of you...we do need new descriptors for the two of you.

Thanks enkidu I like the way this sword looks without the etching so I may just leave it bare... for now anyway. He he, yeah I have one in each hand as I'm typing this Yep, doesn't seem fair does it? But don't be sad Itigar, if you come by I'll let you play with them Thanks a lot RicWilly Thanks Slackitude Smurftacular? Thank you Nial ;D Thanks Leoghen Thanks Ebon! Smurftastic? Thank you Jonathan When I look at these two sitting next to each other I prefer the look of the blade that Brendan made. It just looks more like a real sword. However, when picking them up, the little flares at the ends of the langets on the first version are right at eye level and there's something about that and the nearly straight sided blade that just looks incredibly menacing in hand. Sort of an "Oooh Yeeeah" kind of a feel that makes me prefer holding that one. Though the specs are very similar, in use they feel completely different. Brendan's blade has slightly more profile and distal taper and the blade is slightly shorter. That, in addition to the pommel being a tiny bit closer to the cross make that sword more agile and quicker to recover. The difference is definitely noticeable. That reflects what I was talking about way back at the beginning of this post about sword dynamics. I suspect that the second sword won't be quite the incredible chopper that the first sword is but it's easier to handle. The leather cord feels nicer on bare hands than the cotton cord. I'm really pleased with them both ;D
