Best way to ship a sword? Depends. If it's very valuable, then USPS registered mail is the only way to go. Can be insured for the large amounts that many high end swords must be insured for, is under lock and key at every stop along the way, and must be signed for by every hand it passes through. The draw backs are that the package can't have ever been used and must be sealed in brown packing paper. It also takes a little longer than express or priority, but is extremely safe. For medium priced stuff like customs in the $2000-$4000 range, either registered or USPS express insured. The less time something is in the system the less likely it is to get lost or damaged. For everything else, priority insured, but never ever under any circumstances ship anything regular mail, EVER!
Now, if it's out of country, and especially to Canada, never use USPS, even express. I once had just an envelope coming from a customer for payment on a sword, sent express mail. Arrived three and a half weeks later. Fedex is the only way to go for anything international. Just don't mark the paperwork as a new sword or they will many times not ship it. It's an "antique for display purposes only."
A friend of mine who's been in the sword restoration business for over 30 years has used USPS most of that time and in 30 years of shipping swords has only had one blade lost. Pretty good if you ask me.
Oh, and lastly, never use UPS for anything.

he received it the 6th of may. Yet he hasn't responded to this thread since the 4th to acknowledge receiving them, nor to acknowledge that he intends to actually pay for them. I wrote to libertiesrebel about the problem we were having with the delivery, and he mentioned that he was moving. Let's hope he got his swords and will pay Marc for them . I hate to think that he messed up Marc and dropped this bomb on USPS here and just disappeared.

I think there's more to that story than what we've been told so far...but no matter, it is horrific. Its compounded by the fact that the owner has almost no legal recourse of action but to wait.

I'll use USPS Priority Mail for smaller parcels (their flat rate box), but always use UPS for larger stuff - including any swords. I've found them to be far more reliable and handle things with a little bit more care.

I hope this hasn't soured you from the business...that'd be a shameful loss to the community if you a sk me.

received an email from paypal due to the fact i send them an email with a lot of (words i cannot say in here)
and ,, she is a head supervisor(if i can call it that way) received an email a couple of minytes before that saying i sent your request to a supervisor.
and received this down here. Dear Marc Lecompte, Thank you for contacting PayPal. Please note that we have disputed the chargeback with the buyer's credit card company. Depending on the credit card company involved, the chargeback dispute process may take up to 75 calendar days. In a dispute over a chargeback, the decision is ultimately made by the credit card company and PayPal cannot control the outcome. If the chargeback is won, your account will be credited back. I understand your frustration regarding this matter and apologize for any inconvenience it might have caused you. Sincerely, Deborah PayPal Chargeback Division PayPal, an eBay Company
