Don't kid yourselves.
It is VERY difficult to fire a UPSer... they are virtually unfirable as well.
One word... Teamsters....
As a Teamster's Union Steward at UPS , I was a part of multiple firings... and rehirings... was even fired once , and rehired myself...
Firing is a jack-leg reaction at UPS.... you can be terminated very quickly, as suspension and the like is rarely done...
But termination is RARELY a permanent condition at UPS... it IS really a suspension... almost EVERY union employee that is terminated is rehired....
If UPS wants to get rid of you , they have to be very sneaky about it... few things can get you inelgible for rehire at UPS... theft is one of them... but still not 100% ...
An employee fired for theft still has Teamster representation , and will be rehired , pending conviction... and possibly afterwards...
The way UPS goes about getting rid of someone is by conducting a thorough investigation of them... presenting this to them , threatening prosecution and intimidating them into resigning...
By resigning the employee waives union reppresentation, and the right of rehire... and avoids the threatened prosecution...
After having worked as a UPS driver, I use USPS exclusively for parcel dellivery... and have NEVER had a problem...
EDIT... OH , and by the way UPS conducts NO pre-employment drug-screen or background check...
Officially , of course UPS is against drugs... blah, blah , blah... but I can tell you the unofficial truth is UPS does not give a damn if you are a convicted felon on crack, if your SPHOR numbers are good enough....
Every Package, EveryDay .... that is the long and short of what UPS cares about... keep your SPHOR (stops per hour on road) at the required number with as few exceptions as possible.. and you can cuss your boss out on a daily basis and have NO fear of reprisal... trust me I saw it and did it myself .... daily...

...he has on several occasions taken those items to the post office, and charged the people who own them $10.00 to get it back! lol, kinda funny, and enraging at the same time... "charged the people who own them $10.00 to get it back" = extortion

"charged the people who own them $10.00 to get it back" = extortion Yeah that is freaking extortion, I never really realized that. Like I said he's had complaints against him before, alot; but his reason for doing it is "your mail box is federal property, that you're responsible for buying and maintaining, and anything you put in it has to have a stamp or have paid postage." He actually says this, retarded as it may sound. Also, he drives the school bus. Shows what kind of idiots I live around, sad but true.

Well, that may be, and whether he plays that card or not, it's the fact he's confiscating your stuff and charging to get it back. You need to go above his head, contact the local postmaster, or go to whatever higher level you can. I'm sure there are state/federal offices that could be made aware of his bad business.

Gotta say that I ONLY use USPS. I have only once ever had a problem with USPS and we found the package and got it delivered in just a couple hours (kind of important as the package held my wedding rings and went missing the day before the wedding).
UPS has managed to deliver 1 package to the wrong place and refused to get it back and are Still tieing me up in paperwork to get my insurance payment for it. Other than that, they never deliver on time or at a time when I can receive the package. Their depots, or whatever they call them, are always in hard to find places with inconvenient hours (at least the Post Office is open on Saturdays).
And FedEx. Gad. I HATE FedEx. Well, no. Not really. They're actually marginally better than UPS. At least I Get my packages from FedEx. No matter that I've never gotten one intact...
And besides, USPS costs about half what the others do.

Funny how it's the exact opposite on international shipping- Fedex usually are twice as fast, and always arrived intact. USPS...... "Priority shipping, 6-10 business days". Yeah, 10 business days my foot, the last package i ordered took something like 16 (maybe they meant 6+10 business days?), the current one is en route, was sent in april 29th, still no sight of it whatsoever. On the other hand, i had a chance to use Fedex only once, priority shipping as well- The package only took a whopping 4 days to arrive to my door. Yes, there's a price gap, but it's worth it, IMO.

I'm sure they actually meant 6-10 (in other words, -4) business days, but are actually using unsigned integers in their computer system, so they get an integer overflow problem. If that's the case, you'll be waiting for a while... (Anyone get this or am I the only programmer here?)

Perhaps the long wait in this case was a matter of karma. A lot of things can be cleared up when the flow of information and commutation is not disrupted.

My sword which was ordered from the same place and sent out the same day came in today. It was stuck at the New Jersey Post Office just like yours. There must have been an error on updating the tracking information, since the info says my package is still there. The package wasn't opened for an inspection so that rules out that reason for the delay. But the time it took to come in makes it look like it took the parcel post ground way and not the expedited method I paid for. I hope you got your sword too, maybe this week.

I have various good and bad instances with all the carriers. The good has always outweighed the bad with all of them.
My local postal carrier is known to "lose" package notes, or misdirect to a neighbor. Fortunately a good neighborhood and a large check did eventually make its way to me. After more than a decade now, he has finally resigned himself to at least wait a couple of minutes for me to get the door before he flies off. When I do have a notice card left, the counter ladies always wonder what type of golf club I must have received, or how so much insurance must explain apparently empty long tubes and Priority three corner boxes. My one overseas receipt was tracked all the way via Global Priority, two customs checks with slight waits at both. That one came to me with four sheets of paperwork still attached at the prigin with a piece of masking tape. Less than ten business days from England to New England. The packaging could only be described as amusing (an 18th century sabre). A couple of Priority cartons gently delivered in tattered and badly packed goods but they made the journey intact (one bent cross poking out). Every tracking for USPS I have ever been issued by the shipper has been trackable and only posted after the delivery once, as the shipper was only a day away in this state (shipped that day, received the next).
UPS have been darlingly efficient in my neck of the woods. More empty boxes that actually contain things. One A&A carton slightly shredded but safe and secure. one Albion carton that looked like a German Shepard had chewed on it, one A&A carton similarly mangled. Both were ok inside. One rifle case left in a snowbank by a side vestibule that had me wondering where it was, as tracking mentioned it delivered. A couple I have had to go to the depot for a couple but they are only fifteen minutes away. Another cute package from California with the best shipping rate for an arms pole (neat square rectangle with the label more width than what was wrapped around it).
Fedex, well not as often as others and they dispatch locally to me from a greater distance. Still, always good with my stuff unless it is sixty pound cartons of candles which sometimes get dropped on a corner.
I'm currently waiting on something to come in but the seller hasn't mentioned yet how it might get here. I'm curious but not at all worried and might check Monday if I don't hear regarding shipping method and tracking. There is no mention on his cart page, nor faq regarding shipping method.
Every day, just like Christmas. that's my philosophy. With the number of receipts I have had since the 1970s, there have only ever been two instances where I didn't get what I sent for and in ok condition. One was confiscated (fireworks), the other partially removed (two of the four knives but replaced by the shipper).
Cheers
Hotspur; USPS tracking has always worked like a dream for me

he received it the 6th of may. Yet he hasn't responded to this thread since the 4th to acknowledge receiving them, nor to acknowledge that he intends to actually pay for them.

In reference to my earlier comment. I checked my tracking number again today, and it says the package was delivered today. Yup it was. If they update it correctly, I shouldn't have had to worry about my order. So, folks, maybe we worry too much when something takes too long to arrive. It'll be a lesson for me ....I opened the box and there it was, my new Dynasty Forge tri-steel Shobu, and all unpleasantness was forgotten.
