That's Kris Konrad. yup, everything he does with a sword is astounding. he used to have a lot more videos up back when he was a member of UBC but now he has far less. it's too bad too. I can't say enough about how good his cutting is. I have a tenative invite to maybe train with him someday if things work out. you guys catch all the conditionals in there? yeah don't expect anything but maybe just maybe. . .

His second cutting set was much better, I have to say that he drops his point alot and his cutting looks very much self taught. Some extremely good cuts in there, I think that the quality of the MAS aids in the amazingness of his cutting.

He drops the point to wipe off the blade... I'm pretty certain he isn't self taught either, and I know for a fact from seeing his videos prior to the deletion of his first account that he cuts well with any blade. I'm still waiting to see you cut though ;D

You and everybody else but I don't currently have a sword I can cut with unfortunately, it's what happens when you sell off your arsenal.

Kris is traditionally trained in Iai. I can't remember the name of his school but he has several years in it but is not training in a dojo currently. he has started a private youtube group for people who train in JSA. he is definitely not self taught.

Yeah, he doesn´t look self trained to me...or if he is, then that is some very fine self training.

That's kind of irritating because he doesn't allow anyone in that isn't 'currently' training, so I wasn't allowed in either.

I just like the fact that he wears t-shirts with holes in the armpits like mine ;D
Well, the cutting is mighty fine too, of course!
Cheers

Kris is in fact traditionally trained in JSA. from what I understand he trained in JSA and then for whatever the reason took a hiatus and has only recently began training again.
I am part of his group on youtube and for those who are wondering why he made it private, his reasoning is very sound. I have seen, and we all know of, the "arm chair experts" that think they know everything there is to know about JSA. They open their big yaps and say the most ignorant things which over time can be quite irritating. Kris decided to privatize his group so he could converse strictly with those people whos input has value. People in JSA who can give constructive points from an impartial standpoint.
Kris is not trying to show off or say that he is the master of anything. He isn't trying to send a message that he is better than anyone else. He is putting his work on youtube to communicate with others in JSA around the country and no other reason. I don't know why people get all bent out of shape when something like this happens, why do some feel like they are entitled to watch just because it is posted on a huge forum? Boggles the mind.

I do not understand the 'sour grapes'.

I do not understand the 'sour grapes'. Hey Shadow, I should have stated it in my post but my reaction was not in any way directed towards you or anyone else here. I was speaking specifically about others who have had some not so nice things to say about the group and its being private. Sorry if that initially came out wrong

Hehe I didn´t bother since I´m concentrating of WMA right now so my JSA has been suffering quite a bit. Not that my WMA has been going well since my sciatica problem keeps me from swing a sword properly. Been kinda in teaching mode for the past month or so hehe .

Sure would be nice to watch, though, wouldn't it? It sure would... I love watching vids of people WAY more skilled then me cutting. Sometimes I go over to ShooterMikes YouTube section when I wanna see some silly awesome cutting... and make myself feel small. However, I understand what Kris is trying to do with his group, and I get it, so while I'm bummed I can see the vids I don't mind too terribly much.
