Valiant Armoury Practical Long Sword reviewed by Richard Williams of Evansville Indiana. Good first impression, everything tight and straight. Came with a woodcore scabbard. Hilt assembly is held together by a threaded nut, can be disassembled with a screwdriver. The tang is 3/4 wide at shoulders and as thick as the blade. I was concerned that it had a threaded rod welded to the end of the tang. I checked on SFI and found out this is acceptable. Subject discussed in this thread; forums.swordforum.com/showthread.php?t=88356Pommel is 1 3/4in. across by 3/4 thick. Hilt assembly is 9 1/2 in. in length. Cross is 8 3/8in. across by a variable 1/2 thick. Blade is 3/16 in thick at cross with a slight distall taper. Blade is 36 in. long. 1 7/8 wide at the cross profile taper to 1 in. at 2 in. from tip. Overall length is 45 1/2 in. Fuller is 27 in. long from cross and 3/8 in. wide. Point of balance is 6 3/4 from cross. Center of percussion is around 25 in. from cross. Weight is 3 lbs. Now for the fun part. This sword cuts very well two handed and is fairly managable one handed. Came paper cutting sharp. Me Likee, thanks Sonny and Paul.

Looks like they turned out okay, then.
One of these has just moved up a few notches on my ever-growing list.

Wonderful! I have the Arming Sword on order but perhaps the Long Sword might be something to consider, also. Great review and thank you!

"Cuttin's thirsty work!"
Best line ever. Ric, I've never heard you talk in a video yet. And I have to say, it's odd. I didnt place your voice with your face.
+1 for the first review, some humor, and some great cuts.

I was thrilled that RicWilly FINALLY posted a video with SOUND. I didn't get to hear much of it, as mother kept talking to me the whole time, shouting up from downstairs, but WOO HOO nonetheless. Speaking of sound, that sword makes some nice ones.

It's nice to know I'm not the only one who buys new bottles just for cutting practice. Good review.

RicWilly, I really enjoyed this clip. It's nice to see someone put one of our products to good "Destructive use"
Poor water bottles, they never really had a chance. cue funeral music.
Thanks RicWilly,

Beautiful review Rick. You make it look easy, especially those upward diagonal cuts! Thank you for your contributions.

Thanks for the karma and the good words fellas. The sword really does the work, it cuts as well as anything I've handled so far.
Kid, I think my voice sounds funny too. LOL
That recyle truck was loud, if it's a waited a bit I'd had something for him.

Just watched the video again, now that it's quiet in this house (nobody else is home , and your closing comment was probably the best. "I reckon she'll do," indeed. I'm still holding out for the Kriegschwert, but one of these may come my way by summer...

Great review,
I was waiting for a review before selling the new valiant practical line. AoV will be offering them very shortly. It may be bad business practice to start behind the power curve, but I would rather wait than put swords into the hands of customers that have not been put through some testing/reviews.

It is reviews like this that make me want a Euro sword. I mean, I will never get bored of the katana, but this just looks plain fun. sadly, I do not know anything about Euro swords, can anyone help me in that field? I am thinking of purchasing a 2 handed Euro sword, just because I am so used to the Japanese sword. +1 by the way. Hey, Ric...you seem to have surpassed rammstein in Karma...Wow, I thought it was an impossible task. But you did it!

I am stoked to see a quality product available to your North American market for under $300. It looks like it answers the flaws in the other manufacturers products: Windlass (whippy/thin), Gen 2 (over sized/blocky/inconsistent), Hanwei (hollow pommels). My only irk is that the grip is thicker than the cross at the one end and thicker than the pommel at the other. Id rather see the cross hide the end of the grip, and the grip taper down to the same size as the pommel. One question - is the hilt furniture SS or steel? Thanks for the review Ric.
