looks like the same geometry as the one i made in my signature. its essentially a huge type X with a smaller fuller.

i ended up giving my sword a 10 inch grip, the tang was about 13 in before i put on the guard and pommel, and then peened it

if you want 8 inches of grip the tang needs to be at least 11-12 inches to occomodate the guard and pommel.

Much appreciated jamie, i had been taking work as an over the road driver, and it caused me togain 100+ pounds in less than a years time, my health went to total garbage, i started having wierd things wrong with me, and anything but sitting in a chair caused extreme back, ankle, and knee pain. i was retaining tons of water which leaked out my skin and left me constantly soaked and disgusting feeling....then to make it worse i went a year unemployed. But i started a new job working security that forces me to walk over a mile every day and my health has bounced back and done a 180. im doing normal everyday stuff again with enough pain to cause discomfort, but not debilitating like before. Im still a bloated ugly blob of chewwed bubble gum, but i feel like a million bucks compared to where i was at 6 mos ago. if i had continued the downward spiral i probably wouldnt be posting here today. id be 6 feet under from a heart attack or stroke (which the doctors were surprised i hadnt suffered already)
