bare essential you need a vice and a powerful angle grinder. you can substitute the angle grinder with a file and copious ammounts of blood, sweat, and tears. and alot of character building.

Great review buddy, glad you liked it. I'm gonna have to make another one for myself when i get ahead. I really prefer the design over the lighter weight slender stabbey pokey type blades

Heres a really interesting video by one of my favorite sword smiths, Walter Sorrells. In the video he demonstrates that contrary to popular belief, Hira zukuri geometry blades arenot necessarily just for trick cutting light targets, and that they can be made in such a manner that they will perform just as well as any other

due to the shape of katana tangs this would be extremely difficult because there isnt enough tang there to attatch the slabs to.and because the angle of the blade bevel follows into the tang, theres really no flat surface to affix the pannels to. It could be done in a permanent construction..but removable, i dont think so. Maybe someone else can chime in who knows more than i do though

I dont know if i posted this one before, cant remember, so sorry if youve already seen it...this one was a customers request, I made a simmilar one for Adrian Jordan. Blade is 3/16ths inch 1095 carbon, differentially hardened. Grip is Immitation Pearl, and i gotta say its damn good immitation, my uncle couldnt tell the difference between it and the Genuine pearl grips on his Colts. blade is roughly 4 inches long, 5 inch grip. Simple utilitarian polish and etch to reveal the hamon.
