If you are just planning on fighting zombies you probably want something that is very light but tough enough to resist bighting or gouging. You probably also want to avoid anything that willlet the undead get hold of you, so horns on a helmet are probably not a good idea
Personally I would go with a Gambeson and a Bascinet.

i was just thinkin, for a partial plate suit with chainmail in between what about using some good thick gauge aluminum on places like the shoulders and hips. isnt it really impact resistant? Very interesting. I'm surprised they never thought of using armor in the Zombie movies. I think against zombies you can go with just full mail. The zombies will not likely be using weapons, they only bite. Mail should be sufficient. Plates often leave openings unless you are wearing it over mail. Instead of wearing a gambsone under the mail, you can wear a bullet proof vest to deal with other people. A T-face helmet should be significant so they can't bite your face.

Somebody has been playing too many video games, there is no one who makes a double barrel pump shotgun. Of course a 7ft claymore is just as bad.

In a world overrun by Zombies, double barrel pump shotguns do exist

lol, well i carry a 7 ft claymore i dont plan on them getting close. lol anyways id have to run out of ammo for my double barrel pump shotgun and my AK first. but im planning on have to fight other people too. other people are going to be just as dangerous as zombies. Well if you have a double barrel pump shotgun, I would dispense with the armour, if you run out of ammo you're better of running, and the weight of armour is just going to slow you down. Spikes and horns on a helmet might look cool, but they are completely impractical. Well designed helmets are shaped so that a sword striking the helmet will slide off. If you are wearing a helmet with horns, and your opponent managed to hit one of the horns with his sword, the helmet would probably be twisted round with such force round with such force that it would snap your neck . As for the 7 foot claymore, unless you are built like Arnold Schwarzenegger you would tire very quickly, probably after the first swing. This might be OK if you are fighting a single zombie shuffling slowly towards you. But if you faced by a hoard of the undead you may want something that is quicker. Its also not going to be very good in tight spaces, if you have thousands of the undead pressing in on you may not have the space to weld a long sword. If I was going to put together a zombie killing outfit, it would be as follows A barbute helmet that gives both good protection but also good al lround vision - cascollectorsclub.com/prod_detail.aspx?id=AB0336&desc="T" aluminium chain mail hauberk, light but still good protection against the teeth of the undead cascollectorsclub.com/prod_detail.aspx?id=AB2542&desc=Hauberk And a mace for obvious reasons www.myarmoury.com/othr_mrl_mace.html

Just keep in mind that you have to carry all your weapons, ammo, and armor, so lighter just might be better. Personally I'd go with an armor setup like tsafa suggested, probably something like a side sword or something else with some reach, but not too large, and whatever firearms you're most proficient with. Whatever you decide to do about weapons and armor though, remember to pack a length of rope, and large roll of duct tape, and a swiss army knife.

What about a Hydra? That is a three barrelled shotgun; used to great effect in Resident Evil 5. heh.
As for Zombie armor, I'd go with pickle barrel plastic...highly impact resistant, its over 1/4" thick and ultra lightweight. You can get an entire harness and it won't weigh over 20 lbs, that's head to toe. Think about it...I know where you can pick one up from. Bill probably does too.

hmm... in this case... ahh my armor would be a tank, no doubt. anything less and im going to shoot myself, or commit seppuku. you just run over the zombies with a tank! and if you run out of fuel you can start using the cannon... then when that runs out... call the ghost busters. But seriously if we ever have to go medieval on anything... it will probably be dragons from the center of the earth, or Alien monsters invading from the galaxy of Zooomar. if zombies do pop up, im going to hide inside a blast room. im sure the military has one somewhere... EDIT: Im not mocking anyone btw, i have always dreamed of the day i have to follow chris redfields orders... shoot them in the head!!! i have great aim with a .30 rifle but i have never shot a Desert eagle or double barrel shotgun xD

Seppuku...lol
Taking myself out of the equation is never an option; I'll fight until I no longer can. I'll be sure to take as many zombies as I can with me!

Think about it my friends... should a zombie apocalypse actually come to be, it will be people like us who will be the survivors. I've taken several online surveys on the subject (because I have that kind of time) and always scored in the high 90's percentile in survival probability. The unprepared will bow to us or perish. And out of the ashes shall arise a new world order. As for good zombie armor, to each his own. The varying designs in armor and weapon selections will make for a great deal of versatility when we all join forces against the zombie hordes. Personally, I like the light and durable approach for armor; I really dig tsafa's idea of chainmail under a bulletproof vest. I'd add a gorget for added neck protection I'd also have some kevlar gloves with attached steel plates on the wrist and the back of the hand. Maybe even some small spikes for a nasty punch. I also like Scotsman's idea of a gas mask over a Viking helmet. I thing just the mask part, like a paint mask or something, with a helm over it would work. I would go with some kind of modified helm, possibly aluminum or titanium over steel to cut down the weight. I'd also add some cutouts at the ears so that it doesn't restrict hearing. Oh! maybe even those off the shelf hearing aid things you see on infomercials under the helm. You don't want to sacrifice hearing when fighting zombies. Lower body armor would consist of tac boots, aluminum or steel greaves, tactical knee pads, and maybe thick denim or kevlar cargo pants. For weapons, you can't go wrong with an AK-47 or AK variant. Maybe with a shotgun mounted under the barrel. Alternatively, an MP5 due to abundant ammo availability and compact size, or an M14 for it's high power at medium to long range. And to compliment that, a Remington 870 slung over the back. For close combat, the tried and true machete. Maybe a Cold Steel magnum kukri. Also, IMO the Hanwei practical ninjato would be quite nice. It's lightweight, and cuts like a demon, and also thrusts well. The Albion Thegn might be good in a pinch too. This has been my input of epic nerdism. Cry havoc! And let slip the dogs of war!!!

A shark suit with a plastic head mask would work better than anything "specially" designed for zombies.

One question just what kind of firearms training do you have, do you even own a gun of any kind. I am a firearms trainer, police officer, and former tactical team member. I have fired thousands of rounds in practice and training.
Back in the 80's when these double pump shotguns and semi automatics first came out we tested them found them to be of no practical use. To unbalanced, and the barrels would not shoot to the same point of aim. If the triggers aren't slaved you have to have very long fingers to reach the second one.
Hey I've response to the zombie topic in another thread we all had fun with it. I just believe in being practical.

Lets face it, we all know its gonna end in zombies.
Chainmail would be perfectly effective for that nice dark to middle ages feel, if you cant chew through it yourself doubt the walking dead could, full hauberk and coif with probably mail or steel gauntlets, riders leather chaps and boots for those little ankle biters.
A good axe for limb hacking and the old canon of brain destruction, and a shield to keep them at bay and cover yourself. Tie some cloth around your nose and mouth for smell and flying gore, some safety glasses for eyes and done.
As for firearms, hell whatevers available, working and loaded. Getting tired need to run ditch shield, more tired off goes hauberk and so forth as emergency dictates.

Just because I'm older dosen't mean I don't keep with whats going on and don't use the most modern and effective weapons. Now you are insulting me because of my age.
Guess what I grew up in the town where Jimmy Lyle had his shop. I went to his shop alot of times knew the man very well. Ever could afford one of his knives. I may knew your grandfather what is his name.
Cops don't like things that aren't conventional give me a break. Tactical teams will use what works no matter how unconventional it is. Have you ever seen a pepper ball guns some of them look like they belong in star wars.
Until you have hands on use of a weapon don't tell me it's practical.

Um ...if I may interrupt you guys. This is a thread about zombie armour!!! I don’t think it matters what hands on experience or fire arms training individuals have, or what your grandfather did in the war.
It’s a bit of fun, that’s it!
