Don't "circumcise" the mune protusion! It looks unique with it. Do you think Hanwei added it to strengthen the tip so that it's not too thin...?

Nah .... The mune does flare at the kissaki on unokubi from the transition back to shinogi zukuri... But not a hump like that... It's just odd. At anyrate the sword has a new home now...

Unique isn't always good. The tip's "normal" trick of returning to the mune's original thickness is strengthening enough...there are also blade types that don't feature any "reinforcement" of the kissaki at all, but it's debatable how "tough" these tips are... Different styles etc. I still haven't found documentation of this type of kissaki, and still don't like it, regardless. Curse you, Marc Ridgeway. My left thumb is cramping and my fingers are stiff and sore. I am too old for typing at 1am. /lame excuse
