Someone may have posted this here or you may have seen it before, but in case no one did i'll post it now. This is machi sensei, I believe he is the most talented swordsman out there today.
In this video he is performing suegiri, which is trying to get as many cuts as possible on free standing tatami omote without making it fall. Let me tell you, it is very hard and your cut needs to have flawless alignment and smoothness to pull it off. He gets 7 in.
More Suegiri, this is also machii sensei but with longer hair and in poor quality video

I'm not even going to try and critique him, exceptional cutting skill, I wonder if his martial skill is equal to his cutting ability, that would be a truly fearsome combination.

There is a big line, apparently only martial artists can see, between competition arts and "martial" arts. I'm positive though he's great at martial skill as well, you don't get to that level of connection with your swordsmanship without dedication to your martial arts as well as your competition goals. Though, I'd love to try those cuts with the same blade he's using ;D

I think we are over-looking the awesomeness of the ball cut, I loved that. I guess it's a good thing Machii sensei isn't a memeber of our forum because the Coolest cuts gallery would turn into the Machii gallery. every cut this guy makes is extraordenary.

I'm with ya on that ball cut Tom. It takes some serious skill to perform Nukitsuke on a ball moving 120 Kilometers (74.56 Miles) per hour right at you!!

I am going to try that too. The free standing wara one.
I was impressed severely with the others but we don't do fruit and vegetables as a general rule. Raven.

Very entertaining and inspiring. Someone should start up a topic and people should try and do free standing tatami cuts with there sub 300 dollar swords...could be interesting.

that would be a cool competition but if anyone is to do it, please don't do it on a hard surface. Don't want to take any chances wrecking your blade on impact or even pieces of it flying around if it would break. But it sure would be fun to try
