Wow Mr. Williams is using a lot of arm in that. I mean I can see his body motion but there's a lot of arm to it. you can tell it's a light and fast sword.
here's a really good cut Tim did with a heavy sword on thick bamboo. he's no James Williams that's for sure but he sure got this cut right

Mr. WIlliams is a famous and very accomplished martial artist and owner of bugei trading company.
Tim is nobody, just a guy with almost zero training who likes swords and happened to get one REALLY good cut on camera. I'd like to point out that there is a LOT more to a sword's handling than purely its weight. I have an albion Norman which is 2 lbs 8 ounces and its a LOT lighter and faster than my 2lbs 9 ounces Atrim Practical arming sword. albion swords are well known for having excellent handling characteristics, and the knight is often referred to as the best. mr. williams is using his body to start the motions and he is rotating and continuing the motions very well, but I'm also seeing a lot of arm action. I'll need to watch these vid several times more just to make sure I'm not missing something important. great videos though.

well. . . I have taught him SOME things, but there's just no way to compare him to Mr. Williams.

And it looks to me that you've taught him well. But, I really see no need or reason to compare triddle to Mr. Williams, or anyone else. I am positive that triddle will, like the rest of us regular folks, continue to progress in sword knowledge and skills. Only those who presume to know all, in any subject, will continue to basically fool themselves.

oh certainly and I would not compare Tim to Mr. Williams or to Triddle. the reason I put his video up here was to show the technique since we were talking about recovery of a single handed sword after a cut.

btw, no need to call me Mr. Williams. Ric will do. Sorry Mr. Williams, but I have way too much respect and esteem for your swordsmanship, knowledge, videos, etc. to call you Rick. And now I find out that you own the Bugei Trading Company !!!! Can you loan me a dime ?

Many people have asked but unfortunately I don't have the facilities at the moment, I'll see if I can borrow my brother's camera.

Of course I don't take any offense at what you said. Any advise and feedback is of use, unfortunately I won't be able to practice now for a while since I'm at university and living in a college. Oh well, I'll keep this all in mind for when I go home.
Thanks for the feedback.
