Totaly depends... Each sword is different... so many factors will come into play as to how long your katana keeps a 'razor' edge. What you cut, how often you cut, how you cut, what steel was use, how well it was made, it's geomitry, and so on and so on and so on... Each sword is different, and each swordsman is different, so there is no one number you can put out there and say "Your katana will stay sharp this long before you need to polish/sharpen it again.

my Hanwei PK Light was able to lift hairs off my arm when I got it right after Christmas and since then I have put it to HEAVY use mostly on bamboo. it has cut a LOT of bamboo and it is STILL just as sharp as when I got it. I am very impressed with this sword.
My Kaze hold it's edge very well but does need to be sharpened once in a while, but then I've had it a lot longer than my PK Light, could be the PK just hasn't been with me long enough to need sharpening. I have only sharpened my Kaze twice in 10-ish months
