I'm sorry but are you f**king kidding me?! I remember the posts where many people had a go at the guy doing kenvert, with a bokken no less and yet here we have some guy with so called "years of dedicated training" and he is being applauded!
As for his "years of dedicated training" I didn't see anything like training in that, I saw some guy doing what could only be called "movie grade" cutting which is flash and fancifulness. Sure he had fun but there was no real technique.

Sure he had fun but there was no real technique. So, you could do better then? He may or may not have traditional WMA training... but he certainly has had a LOT of practice. His motions and cuts... while I agree are flashy and full of wasted energy... are performed with speed, control and confidence... the sort you only develop after having done it a LOT. Besides... I recall a thread where many were saying that a lot of Wushu and other Chiness martial sword forms employed a lot of pointless flash and wasted movement and energy, and you DEFENDED those styles. All I know for sure is... it's clear to me from the video that the guy spends a LOT of time working with bladed weapons and is very comfortable and practiced in their use. His flashy style may be ill suited to true weapon combat... but it's VERY effective for what he does in the video... backyard cutting.

Sure he had fun but there was no real technique. Admittedly I have ZERO European Sword Training .... NONE.. As such, what the guy was doing to me looked like decent technique... in fact , I saw a few things in there that I thought would improve my abyssmal one-hander cutting, and I wish i hadn't sold all my singles , so i could try them out... Mind you , I'm not applauding the guy... or have I seen ANYONE really applauding him... but I think that was only meant as a segueway anyway ehhh? Since I am ignorant of good Euro technique, and you, Bloodwraith seem to have a good grasp of it, I'd like to invite you to make a video ... similar to this one , but with PROPER cutting technique .... so I'll know what to look for Mind you this isn't a challenge , its a friendly invitation ... seems a shame that the community isn't benefiting from your firm grasp of so many martial disciplines So 'ow bout it ,'wraith ? Would you make a video that shows what this guy is doing , only with proper technique, so that I might educate myself? Thanks

Marc: If I had a video camera and a decent euro blade I would, all my training and sword handling has been with my instructors' weapons and one of the guys in the class (albion swords are absolutely exquisite for WMA training). If I ever get my hands on a camera I will probably put up different elements of stuff that I have learned over the years, although I always feel nervous in front of a camera.

IMHO,
this clip tells far more about the vendor than the products they're promoting.
-s.

IMHO, this clip tells far more about the vendor than the products they're promoting. -s. THATS for sure... ;D I dunno if it's supposed to be a promo vid, but it is absolutly a SELF promotion vid. It's a video of the guy showing off. Hey, why not? I have a different opinion on his technique then Bloodwraith... I think he looks very practiced in the video. If, however, it was ment as a promo vid for his store... then EPIC FAIL. You don't get any good looks at the swords really... no product names, prices, specs... so yeah, not to usefull in that regard.

i think the guys is just trying to show how easy it is to move that sword.

Don't worry about it my Canadian friend... the guy in the vid is an Aussie. Aussie's have bigger balls then the rest of us... it's just the way it is.

That's cause we have to deal with snakes and spiders and you don't want to know what else! I belive it... there are some freaky critters down under. And I'm only half-joking about the bigger balls. Every Aussie I have meet have been confident, self assured, and almost fearless. I don't know whats in the water down there (Probably beer) but 'Do you come from a land down Under?' indeed...
