When I hear about home schooling it makes me think of that family with the 18 kids. I'm pretty sure most of the kids are robots. If no one else knows what I'm talking about I'll feel a little silly.
Nothing against home schooling here, either.. I too plan to home school any future children.

I think if I was to homeschool my kids I would have them playing a lot of sport, or in scouts, or something that involves a lot of interaction with other kid and adults. As much as possible.

I think that interaction and social contact is VITAL to a childs upbringing. My wife and I are waiting a bit on children... maybe 4 more years or so. However, when/if we have any... I don't think we will homeschool... however we will take an active interest in their education and will probably work with them in that area in addition to school. I dunno... maybe I'm a weirdo... but I LIKED school. I had to leave high school after my freshman year to finish my studies threw a school-run independant study program. I didn't do this because I WANTED to... I did it because I had no choice. I was working two jobs and going to school, and getting only 3-4 hours sleep a night and going out of my mind. Something had to give. Meh... bad memories.

Hah, martial arts, of course! Funny that I didn't think of that. I played rugby and trained at a local Muay Thai gym as a kid and I think that both kept me on the straight and narrow during a time when I could have easily gone off the rails.
Three rugby coaches and a gym full of older guys kept me quite well-behaved... apart from the occasional rugby tour that is...
I loved high school... Seriously... short skirts, cute girls, 6 hours a day. Can I go back?
