Amazing! His other works are equally impressive too.
I've always loved exotic materials; mammoth ivory, bog oak, etc. I have a few pounds of meteoric iron I might have made into something nifty someday.
Great find and thanks for sharing

Every time Jake makes a new sword it's the most beautiful sword I have ever seen.

Actually after reading how much work went in to it I don’t think the proceeds of selling my car would cover it, maybe I will have to sell my girlfriends car as well.

Nonsense....If my boyfriend sold my car for that...I'd be happy. Walking to work whistling happy.

Just use your new sword to "persuade" her to stick around. ;D Or, if she's hellbent on leaving, tell her that your new sword is more beautiful than she ever was. That way, if she's leaving you, at least now she's got a complex and it'll mess up her next few relationships, eh? I kid, I kid.

LOL I think a more likely scenario is that she would use the sword on me!

Hey, Jake's stuff is 'only' around $7,500 . One car should cover that, right? BTW, Kingrat, Jake doesn't accept comissions; he just makes stuff and sells it. Sorry to kill any ideas forming , lol.

I can't find mention on his website that he is no longer taking commissions. In fact, there's an entire SECTION of his website, dedicated to work he's done on commission. So where are you getting your information?

Hey, Jake's stuff is 'only' around $7,500 . One car should cover that, right? BTW, Kingrat, Jake doesn't accept comissions; he just makes stuff and sells it. Sorry to kill any ideas forming , lol. That would all depend on how much your car is worth. Between me and my other half we have two cars, one good, one very, very bad. My girlfriend gets the good car because she drives to work, so yes if I sold her car I could raise the money. I can catch a train to work so I get the bad car which is probably worth less then $1000, has a tendency to break down when you least expect it, and is held together by a combination of rust and gaffer tape. So no my car alone would not cover the cost. I kind of got the impression that he did commissions by the bit of his website that says commissions. I could be mistaken though.

I thought so as well, but I emailed and his wife (the Customer Service department) replied saying that he didn't accept commissions and anything available would be listed on his site. So THAT was my informant...and she'd know, wouldn't she? Every now and then I actually know what I'm talking about, lol. Thanks, Slayer EDIT: Spell Check

Well I gotta say, you really didn't approach the matter well. I have a feeling her response was a polite way of turning you down, since your questions were rather against proper etiquette for this kind of thing. Approaching an artist asking, "How cheap can you go?" is bordering on offensive. Not to mention that no bladesmith in their right mind would accept a commission from a 14 year old, if only for legal reasons. You didn't include all those pictures of your cat, afterward, did you?

Yeah have to agree with HR, that is not the way to approach any bladesmith. Asking "How ‘battle-ready’ are your creations? What can they withstand?" was just a terrible thing to do. After such a question if I was Jake I would not sell you a sword even if you offered to pay ten grand. The question of what can they withstand rings warning bells all over the place. Being 14 would also be a big hurdle. If I ever buy one of these I would never use it for cutting, these are strictly master display pieces in my opinion, an heirloom to hand down to my children.

Ok, Ok, it was stupid. I'm sorry. But I was just wanting to know HOW tough they were. you're all right, and I was stupid. I don't believe she took it this way, but you're right nonetheless. Can we forget this ever happened?
