I see how you are... I should have known. ;D Seriously tho, I wish Matt and Kerry were a bit closer to me... I'd love to drop by and look at sword nirvana. Sadly, it would be QUITE the trip. Looks like a good time was had by all... and you picked up some very special blades that you will cherish for many years to come. Yet I remain a sickly shade of green... P.S. Matt, just like I said in the thread when you first showed that 'dagger'... that thing is HUGE and made with skill, awesome and win. It's basicly a short sword as far as I'm concerned.

Thanks I really like that one.... As do I... I didn't know Matt had that, the first i heard of it was our friend saying he bought it. I guss I'll have to check Matt's site more often... had I seen it before today, well, who knows... it may have become mine. I actauly have some unmounted gemstones... I might have replaced the red stone in the sword... but I LOVE that sword, it's beautiful.

Shadow, they don't actually have a large number of completed pieces on hand but they do have a couple of really nice ones ready. Not like a KOA showroom. Lot's of serious machinery and sparks and noise and cut-outs ready to be shaped. Better to commission something or wait for them to post items here or on their site.

Except, of course, when I don't check their site often enough and miss something... In truth, I expect Matt and Kerry to be around for awhile... and I am sure in due time I will have a few peices made by them. I have a few ideas that I have them in mind for, as well as a couple for our other resident swordmaker, Brendon. Allthough Brendon may be a bit to busy to take my commision, what with SlayerOfDarkness buying up "every Fable blade ever made" and such. ;D I have only a couple sub 300 peices left to pick up... and from then on I'll be looking at custom and a few higher end production peices... but it will be slower going since the prices will be higher. However, allow me to put aside my envy long enough to say congrats on picking up threw AWESOME blades and, may I say, I admire your taste?

Slayer has provided us with some good humor lol! As for my taste, it appears that at least in this case you and I share the same taste.

Oh my, that dagger...sorry, shortsword is rather exquisite. Not sure why but short swords just grab my attention more than longer blades.

Oh my, that dagger...sorry, shortsword is rather exquisite. Not sure why but short swords just grab my attention more than longer blades. I know what you mean. I am very comfortable with short swords... not as much with longer blades. I attribute this to my training... and my lack of training. See, I have some formal knife training, as well as Escrima... but I have no weastern longsword training and VERY little experince with katana. Lastly, I have some fencing experince, very small. So, with short swords... they feel very comfortable for me... I can treat them as longer knives or sharp escrima or something in the middle and I feel very natural with them. With longer swords I am awkward and unsure... because I have no training to fall back on. So I love me some good short swords.

You're really going to like my double edged leaf blade short sword lol. 12" handle on a 21" blade...of which only 16" is sharpened. If I ever finally get the damn thing made that is. Maybe after this next Japanese sword since I'll have some 1 1/2"x1/4" steel laying around =). Anyhow, contratulations again US...you picked up some really nice blades there =D. Cris

Thanks Cris. Not only did I get three blades that make me happy, I got to meet Matt and Kerry and share in their world for a little while and then I got to share the highlights of the experience with my SBG family! So much better than just ordering some swords over the Net or phone and waiting for deliveries. As far as sword collecting goes I have had a day of days. Those of you that have followed this thread I thank you for sharing in it with me!

Of the many good things about going custom over production on ones sword... I think what your talking abot here may well be one of the best reasons. To actualy meet and shake hands with the man whos hands forged your sword from raw materials to sharp tempred steel... that MEANS something, I think.

It was a day of days for us too bro. We have become wholesalers mostly the last few years. I do a few little shows here and there but we dont get to meet and greet our customers often anymore. We work all day and put it in a box and thats it. It was a pleasure getting to meet you and your family. They seem to all support you in your passion of blades. It was fun getting to show you a bunch of our non sword projects as well. Love to see the fine silversmithing/jewlery work merg a bit with sword customers.
It was kind of funney that Slave and I talked about making him a matching sword in the future to go with his dagger and as he held the large cable sword it dawned on me that the pommel was forged out of the same piece of wrought that was taken from the wall of our old shop. Can't ask for more of a pair. That pair meant a lot to me. Not only did it have pieces from our old historic shop but it was my first spiral fluted wood handle and it was honestly the first completed damascus broad sword from us. A true # 1. I can't be more happy with the home that it found. That leaf blade was wicked after I spent about an hour grinding on it to turn it from a stage piece to a sharp. I think it will slice through anything in its way now.
Hell of a way to start the year. I would like to take this opportunity to invite any forumite to come by our shop. Esp. if you buy 3 custom pieces...hehe.
All in all a great time. We got to show them a ton but truely we didnt even scratch the surface. We left plenty of stuff to do for the next visit and I as I am sure there will be another.
