So, my wife and I are driving down to Maryland on Thursday to check out the Sportsman's Show at the State Fairgrounds. It just so happens that Baltimore Knife & Sword is pretty close to there and I have two blades waiting for me there so after an email to Matt to make sure he will be in I will be stopping by to pick up the blades and see the shop. He has welcomed my coming enthusiastically and wants to show me his forge and process and more of his work. I am excited! Probably will be some pic's to share as well. ;D

Awesome... I'm jealous... have a blast and say hi to the brothers for me. I'd love to drop by but they are VERY far from me... and I highly doubt I would be able to get out of there without several swords under my arm.

I have the same fear, I will have to leave the credit cards and cash at home. I'll probably end up sweeping floors to work off new sword debts! That's a lot of sweeping! ;D

AND not far from home, hon (have done quite a few jobs in Baltimore). If your from near Baltimore you'll get the hon reference.

Hammer, it seems the bag never hits me because i'm the one always throwing it! Sparky, Matt is all over the forum and he and his brother are artists with steel and wood. I have dealt with Matt personally and he's a great guy......one of us. I live in South Jersey but I don't get the 'hon' reference, I'm familiar with the Inner Harbor. Considering the nature of a forge there may be a lot of sweeping to do so grab a broom.

My wife's family is from Baltimore and everyone calls everyone "hon", which is cool because then you don't have to remember names. Other than that it's kind of weird.

Ah, I'm originally from TN and hon is used there as well......short for honey. One of my daughters uses it and dear alot with strangers up here and gets alot of stares. All the guys think she is flirting. I tell them "no, were just friendly to people where we come from."

It's now 9:30 here at the shop. Mr Slave should be here in about a half hour. I will do my best to tempt him with some of the finished work here but I am happy just to have him come by with his family and show him the process. We are in the middle of moving a ton of stuf around so right now our place is a bit cluttered. However, it is cluttered with sword and armor related stuff so I imagine a guy like him will be in sword heaven. I remember when I was a wee lad visiting my brothers shop...I loved seeing all the work in progress and watching the fellas bang on armour all day. It's now just Kerrry and I in the shop daily. Sometimes we have a few friends that pitch in but the process has been streamlined to the point that too many guys working seem to slow us down.
I am verry happy to have this the 2nd SBG forum member to stop by the shop to pick up a purchase and to see how we do things. I have to say I wish I joined this forum a long time ago but I dont think I have made a better decision in the last few years then to join you fellas.
Thanks for making this guy feel welcome. Feedback from the guys out there using/buying swords is so important for companies like mine.

It is we, Matt, who are honored to have you here... we all all enriched by your contribution and your good nature, and I for one am VERY glad that you and other sword makers are here with us crazed sword consumers.

Yeah, Matt rocks! Like a...like a...Rock!
Seriously, I'm reletively new so my opinion may be less valuable than shadow's, but I, for one, am exessively glad that you take your valuable time to hang out with us sword-fanatics, mate. +1 to you!

Well............so.............mission accomplished! I went to BKS to pick up two blades and see the shop and meet Matt and Kerry. The place was great and the brothers showed it all to my family and I. We had great conversation about their swords and other projects. They have pictures of us to post later. We had a great time and they made us feel very welcome. They had blades all over the place in differing levels of completion and it was hard to walk out when we finally left. A nice day! BTW. did I mention I ended up with a third blade before I left , the 7 Bar Cable Damascus Broad Sword on their site now has a new home with me as well. Matt sharpened it up for me while we watched. I don't have a lot of money and I didn't spend a lot considering what I bought. Three custom pieces for a very reasonable price. If your interested in something contact them and see what they can do. They did well by me! ;D

There are pic's on the BKS site of all three blades under the 'ready to ship' and 'items for sale' headings. They are the 7 cable damascus broad sword, large 3 cable damascus dagger, and the hand and a half leaf blade. The pictures we took today of the brothers and my family and I and the three blades will be posted by Matt sometime soon. www.baltimoreknife.com/
