aside from these two options;
'cheness' & 'have one made/make one'
is there anywhere out there that sells sayas?
as an update on my 1601 saya situation, after literally hundreds of 'ins and outs' trying to slacken it up, and it not getting any better at all, i decided to take drastic action.
saya swapping
after comparing it with the numerous sayas i have in front of me, surprise surprise dynasty forge is the closest match.
first i tried to swap with my musha (these two sayas are identical on the outside, both in look and geometrys, everything)
the 1601 went in the musha saya very well indeed
unfortunately the musha only gos 2/3 of the way into the 1601 saya before it meets TOTAL resistance, any more force than ive already applied would result in a saya split/break.
so next i moved (unreluctantly) onto my bushi 1095...
i got this from sote with a same panneled saya for $415
the catch for saving well over $100 was 'it has a bad fitting saya'
i took the chance and it paid off, the habaki fit perfectly and doesnt fall out, the blade was just a bit loose lower down and had a bit of a rattle when in the saya.
imo well worth saving nearly $150.
back to the matter at hand, i really dont want to separate my bushi from the same saya, but i HAVE to get the 1601 away from its saya before one day i draw it and its twisted.
the df bushi fits perfectly in the 1601 saya
the 1601 fits ALMOST right in the same panneled bushi saya
its all good up until the last 10mm, when resistance is met at the kissaki at the bottom of the saya.
the sword fits snug, but there is a nasy looking gap between tsuba and saya....
ive held the blade upto the saya, and theres about half an inch more saya than blade, so theoretically it should fit...
is there a way of adjusting inside the bottom of a saya?
is there anywhere you guys can think of that sells sayas roughly similar to those supplied with these fred chen blades?
my supplier is also trying to help me, hes already asked dynasty forge for me and they said no they wont sell individual sayas.
i really want to be able to use (ie have a functional saya) my 1601 as i really do like the blade's feel
equally i really dont want to part my bushi from the same saya...
as always guys, any and all help is very much greatly appreciated.
