Deepeeka pass, quality iffy, Ritter Steel not bad, but the proven one done is Cold Steel Warhammer, their solid proof video's they bash and spike it through all kinds of stuff including a cattle skull ........ test vids virtually done for you, good hikory handle, you could even cut down the haft if you want it single handed, be fairly head heavy but hey its a hammer, you could even sand off the black coating to leave it iron grey in color ....... tempted to grab myself one sometime

since you said MACE in there take a look at this: /index.cgi?board=otherweaponreviews&action=display&thread=7051
here's a review of a fun hammer I did. not sure if this is the hammer for you since it is so light, but you can see it does serious damage. especially the spike. /index.cgi?board=otherweaponreviews&action=display&thread=7046

Awesomeee ! .. that's what am talking about fun anf more fun ! .. doesn't matter if is light or heavy it's just the fact to smash some stuff .. thanks guys.. When i saw the ritter axe ... first thing I said this axe is for me , but then I saw other maces, hammers and axes so that's why am asked .. I believe the 17 th century war hammer looks more like a ice pike than war hammer .. maybe am wrong but looks like a tool ... Jasmine!, it's a pleasure for me practice with heavy weapon .. hahahah it keeps me in a good shape! Tom .. awesome videos and reviews .. a great hammer.. not heavy but mean . Brissybeater .. I've not seen the COld steel video yet, but I must do.

A good axe head should only weigh 1.1 lbs upto about 1.5 lbs otherwise it is just heavy and pointless.

sure BW but the head is only part of the equation and I can't think of a place that's gonna tell you how much the head alone weighs. the whole thing, sure but not just the head and that shaft of wood will have some real weight and then if it has sidebars. . . you get the picture. all said a hammer or mace should still not weigh more than a sword of similar size. this is something that people really tend to forget especially with hammers and axes. Fanatasy novels and movies are to blame on this one I'm afraid. still they shouldn't be too light either. and they should have a very forward point of balance. they will feel heavier than swords of the same size for sure just not BE heavier.
