All you need now is a squire to help put that armour on. If only I still lived in Winnipeg

Man tell me about it, that is a seriously pain staking process, the back buckle is the worst because it is right in that region that you just cant quite reach from top or bottom

Nice piece. Anyway I would add some protection for the right knee and left arm and elbow In my opinion it would give your kit more authentic look. In real world joints , head and chest are firt to protect. And I believe even in the fanasy world combat is quite similar to ours Of course it is your choice. Even now your kit looks better than in many games I saw.

It looks pretty cool.
You could do with some chain mail or leather to fill the gaps between the armour it looks quite vulnerable around your kidneys and under your armpits.
Looking at that armour you could develop a whole fighting style to go with the armour. It looks like you are pretty heavily armoured down one side so presumably you would want to keep that side to your opponent

yeah i would love to get some chainmail to go with the garb, and im currently working on the cod piece, right shin guard, re-doing the left arm guard for a full wrap around with elbow made of heavier gauge steel. Fight in it thus far certainly takes some getting use to though. There are certain ways you can move very quickly and effectively and others that u just cant move...at all. So there is definately a learning curve to go with it. Sept-yeah just go ahead and try it . Bring the biggest sharpest sword you got and lets have a go, see who wins lol

What kind will you use? Butted or riveted? I know a guy who operates the Kings Lance...he has some decent prices for riveted mail- India made, mind you, but if you're going more for looks it should be right up your alley, FC.

Due to my being very poor, it wont be for another year or more before i can afford to buy any chainmail at all. I am kind of building this suit as i go, saving my change to afford to build parts.
And as to the butted or riveted i dont know if it matters, i wont be doing any hard core fighting in this thing so i dont think it will make much difference, cheaper might be better this time.

If you wanted to save money and continue with the home made theme you could always make your own chain mail. It is not that hard to make butted chainmail, though it is time consuming.
Here are a couple of you tube videos on the subject

KR's right, not hard per se- but VERY time consuming. You probably won't need a full hauberk, especially if you 'knit' the rings right to your harness; just a full sleeved shirt that hangs down to about mid-thigh will be something to the tune of 20,000 rings or so- each one being hand crimped/closed with a set of pliers. But you can get loose rings pretty cheap; they sell'm by the pound in some eBay stores.
Keep us posted man!

oh dang i dont have the time for that ill just have to keep improvising. I still have a few thousand steel discs and a case of rivets, ill just stick with the theme for now. dont want to jump all over the map on this suit just yet. but thanks for the ideas and vids. if anyone has any great ideas im all ears.

If you make/buy me some rings and get them to me, I can put together a sleeve for dirt cheap. I can only do a European 4-1 weave, but that's usually the norm. I really don't have anything to do, and I want something to do in my free time.

I would stick with rings, rivets and leather. The chain would be out of place. Next piece you should assemble is a back to protect those kidneys. Just need what amounts to a weight-lifting belt and put those rings and rivets in it and it'll do the job and match the rest of the kit.

i haven't made a back piece yet due to my fighting style. I like to think of myself as a sort of tank, walk in and waylay everything in front of me. Then, i don't have to worry about anyone getting behind me I deal head on with everything, i prefer a 6 foot sword so i cant really focus on close quarters or people behind me. Gotta kill em all before they get a chance to go around.

An unarmoured back is eaxactly what a "wrap" is meant for. A guy with a shield is going to cause you problems. Get some back protection.
