Hello everyone!
I'm new to this part of the forum, and admittedly, never really checked this board out! I didn't know what it was about, and thought it was just a bunch of manufacturers talking about blade steel types or nuance stuff that wouldn't pertain to me much if I was looking to learn more about swords, their history, or even just looking to purchase.
And I think therein lies the issue! Because as a member of this forum for over 10 years now, I hadn't the foggiest idea that things were being sold on here! I wrote off this board as something that didn't pertain to me, and never really looked back :/ I think this may be true for many forum goers out there, both new and seasoned.
I've noticed a DRASTIC decrease in the number of views my posts have gotten once things were moved onto this board. So much so that it impedes sales, and in turn, prevents me from being able to make more knives or create variety. It feels like my reward for wanting to make things has been for me to be put in the corner so people won't notice me lol
I think a simple name change to this Board, something along the line of "Makers and Vendors: Talk and Personal Sales" would clue in the other forum members that there's not just "shop talk" here but great sales from people like myself, L Driggers, Lonely Wolf Forge, brotherbonzai, and Cottontail Customs.
Thoughts? Ideas? Suggestions? Anyone else ever felt this way????

It seems pretty straight forward to me. Especially that it already has a full description included. I guess that people who don’t take a minute to look might not know but a quick peek and it’s clear, imho.

Maybe add some sub boards so everything isn't so congested and more threads will get views?
For example, have the initial board be Manufacturers and Vendors, then have specific sub-boards for general viewing.
M&V Board (Sub boards) •items for sale • new swords/products/news • M&V accounts (get to know your Manufacturers and Vendors by having each willing to participate create a thread explaining who they are, what they sell or make and links to their websites or pages) • general discussion (where members can ask questions and or have inquiries regarding what they bought or offer feedback to the M&Vs.
I think this will not only eliminate the clutter of the single board but allow each M&V more room to focus on what they wish to do or offer. As well as give members more focused threads regarding their inquiries directly to the M&Vs and allowing those M&Vs to have a sub-board to check into or update. I think it would help build relations between members and M&Vs to have more focused and direct ways to interact.

Since there are already "classifieds"...why aren't "Items for Sale" listed there?
I realize the Classifieds section says "non business users", but why not have two sections under classifieds...one for biz users and one for non? I mean, the items mentioned as examples weren't for sale ONLY to business users...why not put them in a general classifieds section?
Just call the main section "Classifieds" and have the following groups Items for Sale or Trade (Business Users) Items for Sale or Trade (non-Business Users) Wanted Items and Requests Members Feedback

Just letting folks know that I've linked the other Mods to this, so it's being read and thought about. No promises, but you're not just talking to a wall.

I like the way this idea works quite a bit Dave! Thanks, I've always felt that a big push for SBG especially in the early days was how interactive it was with manufacturers and vendors. Many big names now, were nobody's or freshly new on the market back then and it built a lot of great comodery and added notoriety I think. Now we have more and more members stepping in as M&Vs like you so it definitely shows positive progression. Of course Facebook has pretty much taken over this in that regard, but I still feel the forum setting is a more prime place for deeper interactions. If we get the M&V updated with more options for sharing, selling and promoting we'd get more vendors and manufacturers wanting to spend time here. Kinda a, "if you build it they will come" scenario lol!
