I have an Opinel, but I don't carry it. Made the mistake of buying one of their folding filet knives because I liked the profile better, and didn't think the blade would be so thin and flexible. Otherwise, it's a fine knife, as old-fashioned manuals go.
I have a Le Theirs Rotosphere that I bought as a novelty, and it's very much that. Bal-and-socket slip joint gives me slightly better security than standard slip joint, but I don't trust skip joints at all. Pretty knife, though.
Also bought a Wildsteer WX00 and it's just too big.
Hell I've got a lot of knives I don't carry anymore for various reasons. I should get them all together for a group photo at some point.

Munroe Sigil and Kier Feist Yowza! That Sigil is nice! What's the blade size.. 3.5" or 3.75"? Probably worth more than my entire collection! Its the 3.75, I actually managed to get it for I think a little over $900 and tts been in my pocket since 2017. Before this one I carried a DDR SNG custom which covered most of the cost of the Sigil.

And here I am thinking I'll never carry a Microtech because of the price (which is around 700€ for the Combat Troodon), much too afraid to loose or damage it. (I know they have a warranty, but no idea if that's available here) The Sigil is also a knife that probably won't go well with skittish people, the "Sharp objects frighten me" sort.
I wonder now, are there any EDC knives you absolutely never would carry?
For me it's Opinel folders. I know many who love these knives, but I just never liked them. I could see myself using a Spyderco, though I dislike the hole, the knives themselves are good. I also see the value in the Victorinox swiss army knives. It's really just the Opinel I dislike so much, I have never carried one.
I have a large Opinel in my silverware drawer as a filet knife, but I would never carry one. I don't carry manual knives without pocket clips. Unfortunately, I started out collecting Case, Queen and GEC folders (trapper locks and toothpicks among others) so I have a bunch stashed away in a few cigar boxes that never see the light of day and just get oiled once in a while.

Compiled the knives I've carried, as tools rather than those I'd have for novelty, over the last 20+ years. Folders: Many unbranded, no doubt a few knockoffs, most just cheap. Most expensive is the Wildsteer at about $220 US. Cheapest would technically be a tie between the Spyderco Native and the Wenger Cadet (I think?) as they were gifts, but the two Winchesters were $5 Walmart Christmas specials. I didn't include every fixed-blade I've ever carried, as a few were very short-lived in service and, honestly, never should have been. Probably the little Kabar 1232 and Citadel Trapper saw the longest time carried and the most actual use, but the funky folding fella is what I have been carrying for two or three years now, maybe longer? It's almost as much novelty as honest working blade, but it's also a cheap piece of uh...knife. I so seldom actually use whichever knife I have on my belt, as the pocket carries are just more convenient, so it's doing its job just fine. Shoot, I just realized I forgot to include the Civivi D-Art and the CRKT Biwa in the fixed blades. Oops.

Missing my long-lost Martinez Albainox, which was a favorite of the bunch. Lost it somewhere, and the model has been discontinued.

I like the Opinel knives (have 5 or 6 variations) but don't carry them. They are a slice of history, just like the Laguiole knives and the Okapi folder.

The Opinel are too flimsy for me, they are in the same cathegory as scalpels, very good at slicing but also easy to damage. Also I don't like that the handle weighs less than the blade, it's weird to me. With the Laguiole I mostly dislike the price.
BTW got my Atrox today and, no, it's not worth 150€ in my opinion. 100€ max. Corooked lines and grip feels a bit unfinished. It does not feel bad in the hands, though the grip feels a bit slim for a knife its size. Honestly rather add another 50€ and get the CS 1917 Bowie or the Honshu Frontier Bowie (essentially the same).

the Honore Durand Laguiole was expensive, but it is beautifully crafted. One of the knife vendors who shows up at the local gun shows had a pattern-welded Laguiole style folder for around $100 USD. All depends on how much you are willing to pay for your toys.

And even if someone borrows it, odds are they won't know or won't care either. I have a few higher end knives because I really like the look of them (Todd Begg kwaiken comes to mind), but I never pay retail and in general about $100 is my limit, even for Benchmade, ZT, Brous, etc. The prices have skyrocketed in the past few years and one of the main reasons I stopped collecting them, besides just saying enough is enough.

I forgot to include these in my other post: Civivi D-Art, CRKT Biwa, Böker Magnum Miyu, Artisan Cutlery Shark, and a Manly laguiole. My girlfriend uses the Manly as her steak knife, the D-Art and Shark are retired because I can't get them sharp anymore. I'd probably carry the Miyu except I'm not a fan of the action; it just feels...not great? Huge fan of the Biwa, though.

It's a little heavy because I got the SMKW copper handled one, but it's still a great flipper. The D2 is a little hard to sharpen, but I don't use it that often so not an issue as yet.

I usually carry a ZT 0350TS folder in my boot, and a full size Wes Beem/LWF tanto and an LDriggers/JL langseax in my car. I may switch to my Lon Humphrey Ranger or small LWF tanto for my boot knife if I can come up with a secure but comfortable carry rig. The folder is super convenient, but I much prefer a fixed blade when given the choice.

I don't like buying new stuff but I went and got a cold steel tuff lite (full size) last week mostly on a lark, after buying my parents the mini tuff lite and being impressed by the design. I've been needing a better hobby knife anyway for cutting leather but can't make one with all my junk buried under 5 feet of hard snow, so I justified the purchase that way. Now I'm EDCing this folder so far with only a couple complaints. The full size tuff lite is humongously bigger than it seems in comparison pictures and videos with the miniature model. They led me to believe it's only *less small* than the mini, but in reality it's like a full size folder. And the pocket clip's position, which is in the reverse of what I'm accustomed to, forcing an additional action I need to perform after closing this knife in order to re-pocket it. Ugh. Great knife otherwise. I love these cheap knives made from the cheap stainless steels that people spit on nowadays. You can't brag about spending three, four figures on them. They aren't good for hammering into frozen logs on weekends to play make-believe about being a "survivalist." But they're real world knives which take a sweet polished edge on ordinary stones and sandpaper. Very practicable. There's currently a fox knives bf-752 in the mail to satisfy my irrational craving for a small folder. Honestly doubt I'll ever use it, because my kudu does everything perfectly. But I like foxes, and I really like the look of the knife. So I figured why not treat myself for the first time in 13 years? I will be EDCing the fox knife to my grave.

The liner lock is so thick it feels like a fixed blade.

I got a cheap-ish D2 OTF for chrismas. Holy crap, I did not know it could get soo much sharper than anything I had before. Always stayed clear of D2 because it was too expensive in my opinion, but now there is a D2-pokalype, every other cheap knife has begun using D2. I think I like D2 more than S90V/m390. Didn't even have to try hard to get it sharp, like dude-where-is-my-finger-sharp. It's a CobraTec Large FS-X drop point, pretty solid for a little over 130€. Just ordered a second one with a tanto blade, I love americanized tanto style blades.

I've only had a couple of D2 knives, and while they each arrived satisfactorily sharp, I've found them the most difficult to keep that way...

I've only had a couple of D2 knives, and while they each arrived satisfactorily sharp, I've found them the most difficult to keep that way... Hard to grind or chipping troubles?
EDIT These D2 knives aren't that hard, about as hard as my 440C ones. I have cut a bit of aluminium foil (yech) to dull it a bit and it wasn't bad to resharpen and kept better than the 440C, but I have diamond strop sprays because that's the only way to strop S90V.
EDIT2: Aaand i just did something stupid, I hit the D2 against the alu housing of another knife while fondling them. Didn't mess up the razor edge! I am seriously impressed, had a lot of edge missing on a 440a knife when something similar happened and I had heard D2 was so brittle. I think D2 having brittleness attached to it's name is a heat treatment issue though, if it's 62HRC it's probably more affected than the 56-58HRC I have here. Of course the S90V can be dragged over alu without losing much edge, but I loath sharpening it. So much more timeintensive.

Hard to grind. Then again, my stone is pretty old. I probably just need a new one.
