Yeah, that version is a limited edition, but even the regular repro ones are crazy expensive. It's a production knife, and at that size it doesn't need special carbon steel or anything, just full tang. It's a popular style and plenty of knock-offs much cheaper, but if I'm spending money on something along those lines (that I'm not going to carry anyway) I might as well get an authentic bayonet for the collection that's more interesting to look at. Maybe... They use 55Si7 steel at 51-53HRC (at least now), quite the joke for that much cash. They ride the "we produce for the german military" hard... I have been thinking of adding a bayonet, but: 1) I'd also want the fitting rifle 2) The originals are INSANELY costly nowdays (like 300€ for a rusted out attic find) I'd love to have a M1905 or a Swiss Sawback Pioneer Bayonet, because they are big. I paid 31,5 Euro per knife ( not counting tariffs and a customs Broker) but I had the factory make up 100 of them out of parts on hand during their difficult times about 18 years ago. The steel is reasonably hard, I would say they did a better job than on the bayonets, or I just got lucky. I would not pay hundreds of Euro for one...since I sold most of them, I broke even on the deal, and have a few left over. Some of their newer knives ( but not the one under discussion) use N695 at 57 HRC, but as you say are very pricey.
The Fairbairn Sykes generally has a zinc handle ( Vs Aluminum), and a sheath that I'm not fond of...I doubt it's much harder than the Eickhorn and just what steel is it made of? ( I could not find it) In any case the Sheffield SF is a good dagger, and these days less than half the price of the Eickhorn, so enjoy your piece.

Not for most, people move to Florida to escape high taxes and over regulation...but the panhandle is wild. Same can be said of Miami, but in a different way.
A knife is a backup for me.

I don't consider it bad at all. We're a constitutional carry state, and I'm in a particularly conservative rural county. If there's ever an attempted carjacking here, the coroner would have to flip a coin to decide if the carjacker died of suicide or "natural causes". BTW, the poll lacks a category for "chainsaw in the pickup".

Sharp blades are good to have, if Shire-folk go walking, east, south, far away into dark and danger.

I usually carry a well-worn Benchmade 9100 Auto-Stryker, and I've had it since my army grognard days. It has a few places where it's rubbed away its matte-black finish to a bright mirror polish from contact with my clothes over the endless procession of days since receiving it.

That made me laugh. I'm sure its not true, outside of "feelings" ... just one SWAT member should have more than just a little over 2 mags worth, let alone a whole team.

All you guys carrying your bada** knives. I carry a Victorinox Tinker Swiss Army knife. Found one in a car I bought 37 years ago. Loved it. Am on my forth or fifth one. I use it at work, handyman, and am kinda rough on them. But have found that it does what I need.

As a guy with facial hair, I'd go insane without the scissors to trim moustache hairs. Attachments:

These days, when I'm not working, these will be on my person, somewhere. In no particular order, Benchmade Fact 417, Cold Steel Luzon M, JJ Martinez Arabe 96 Arte, SOG Paratool, Maglite XL100, and a generic "folding Bowie knife" I carry for equal parts novelty and occasional utility. Oh, and the Zippo could probably buy alcohol for itself. At my last job, I'd abandoned typical utility knives in favor of a CRKT Biwa neck knife. It's a great knife, and I would EDC it, but I have limited used cases for a neck knife outside of my old job. I also keep a Gerber Artefact on my keyring that comes in handy pretty often.

I keep a Spyderco Manbug Wharncliffe. Blade is just shy of 2 inches. I've found that, over time, I tend to prefer shorter blades more and more. That length paired with the blade shape gives me a great deal of control over what I'm doing with it. Small also means easy to carry. I have this on my keychain.

The Tinker doesn’t have scissors so I have to wait until I get home to trim mine.

Best in live are scissors: Crush your nose hair, see the toe nails driven before you and hear the lamentations of the women!

I use it at work, handyman, and am kinda rough on them. But have found that it does what I need. I have one "Offizier" my Granfather picked up in Switzerland, Wenger, plus a few of the bigger ones picked up in various places.
I used to carry a "Swiss Tool" ( original), in addition to things. When one travels a tool with a smaller knife is more acceptable to authorities. On my 3 week "honeymoon" in Istanbul we had issues with a gang of young thieves following us on the Asian side, I won't get into the incident in detail, but we only ditched them by taking the ferry.
In light of that ( and something else that happened) I quickly went to the Mısır Çarşısı and got some larger knives, just cheap kitchen stuff. I have had many other rough "patches" in other places, including VA, FL, etc. where I am glad I had something legally that could be used for SD. Hopefully you not will have such interesting experiences, but it helps to be prepared. While their are safer places, no place is fully safe, that is an illusion.
I always try to be friendly and polite, but sometimes that is not enough.
