I'm not sure this is the right place to ask this, but i was looking at some suggestions for video editing software for a beginner to use for reviews.
I am using an iphone 14 which has a cool cinematic recording feature but I've found that it doesn't play nice with all video editing software.
I previously used Animotica but it doesn't like the high end apple files apple files. I've tried a few other free options but had the same issue as Animotica when importing the file. Premier Pro takes the file in correctly, but is maybe a bit more advanced than my skill level at the moment.
Can anyone make any suggestions that would work well with apple file formats? I'm a windows based user.
I appreciate your suggestions!

Hmmm. I always edit video in fits and starts, the last time I did it was using Premiere pro and after effects. I started editing video in 2000 though! Makes me feel old. What about iMovie on your phone? What about Premiere elements?
Other than those, there's Pinaccle studio that I've used. UI's for video editing software change so often that I feel like every time I start editing again, I have to learn how to use it again! At one point I used Windows Movie maker, but I guess it's gone now. All of the apps have a learning curve, so you just have to stick with it until you get what you need! If you ever can't figure out how to do something, just google it.

There is a replacement to Windows Movie maker, I cant remember what its called, but also didn't like the high end apple file types (go figure) I COMPLETELY forgot about Pinnacle, I will have to try that. Its a shame Animotica didn't like the file type because it was super easy to use. Id love to find something similar. I will give Pinnacle a shot thought, thank you for the reminder.

Just found Filmora last night...similar interface to Animotica, paid version supports 4k, and handles the HE apple files. Imported a test video last night and it seemed to handle and export it well so I am going to give that a shot!

On Windows PC, look into DaVinci Resolve. Feature rich, but simple enough to get started without needing a training course.

I use Inshot, it's free with watermark or if you opt for a one time fee (think it was $50-$60) you get access to all features. It's a Phone app so it's very convenient if you shoot video from your phone as you can just edit the videos from your gallery. Controls are simple and intuitive with sliders and stuff that make editing and adding photos and music or even tight editing and cutting a breeze. Only draw back is it's a android only app so it won't work with IPhone or PC.

I use Premier Pro and had no video editing experience when I started. It was a bit intimidating but there are lots of helpful tutorials on YouTube for beginners. After a while it becomes pretty intuitive.

For video editing with Apple file formats on Windows, you might want to check out "HitFilm Express" It's beginner-friendly and should handle those high-end Apple files well. It's a solid choice that strikes a good balance between user-friendly and feature-rich.
And if you ever run into compatibility issues or need to tweak your video format, you can always use a mov to mp4 online converter. It's handy for making sure your files play nice with various software. Here's a link that shows you how it's done SPAM

Davinci Resolve is by far the best software you can use. It's free and includes everything you need.

Filmora is free with a watermark and some resolution restrictions, but I ended up purchasing it I liked it so much. Almost done editing my first review.

If anyone wants to see a final product of Filmora, this was put together using it. I will also add that it was my first time using full video editing software outside of an included Microsoft or Apple product.
