Probably going to buy the 15th Cent Longsword from Museum Replicas / Royal Armouries (Matt Easton) unless someone here can talk me into a prettier one. Not crazy about the Albions, can't afford a Lockwood. Attachments:

That particular model is an Oakeshott type XVII. Does typology matter to you? I ask because there are very few examples created by modern makers of that type.

Nice love mine and the Type XVII in general. It a really nicely made sword of a unique type not seen much on the market. If you want to see some details of its shape and geometry plus a little history on it type and use check out my review,

Biggest plus for it is that it is a 1:1 reproduction of a known historical item from the early 15th century My favorite things about are the multiple blade cross-sections and the faceted scent-stopper pommel My least favorite thing (appearance-wise) is that it is very narrow with a linear taper. I definitely do not want a plain flattened diamond cross section OR a wheel pommel. Or a fishtail. Or a Brazil nut. Or a smooth pear.Must have faceted scent-stopper pommel.

Several of the Craftsman Series Valiant Armory items are in the running. A little more than i wanted to spend, but the scabbards are VERY nice.

The SBG store did tempt me into buying a cheap sword with an profile taper that i liked : the Hanwei Rheinlander. Not particularly historically accurate, but at least *plausible* for late 15th early 16th, or without the ring back to late 13th. Still gonna get the Royal Armouries one, or maybe whatever the next batch is.
