I thought the actium was like 350 back when it was available? Either way thats a nice looking piece congrats Talking sword prices in Germany... the Actium was 500 Euro according to Holger. Other examples: a Cold Steel Bastard goes for 450 Euro, most DSA swords are now between 800 and 1000 Euro. The cheapest Bugei is 999 Euro. Windlass are still affordable, due to the fusion with Marto sometimes even cheaper than in the USA. So a lot of the german/euro collectors look to the east: Poland, Czech Republic, Hungary... some italian and spanish guys... oh right i forget how some things can cost more for u guys in germany

Thanks, Dandelion. Now I know where my next purchase is going. We like the stuff of this guy quite a lot; they are doing the whole spread: Katzbalgers, Vikings, Gladii, Longsword, Single, Shorty, Dagger. I saw some axes too, i think. Ordered via "outfit4events", look for this makers mark on the pages of the swords: Attachments:

My one complaint with the Deepeeka gladius I have is that the tang is too skinny and has sharp corners. The bone grip is more accurate, but that's not a requirement.

No, no peen here; our other swords of them are. I see that often on production Gladii, even on the VA. I wonder where the "problem" might be?

Might there be some kind of fear that a peen would cause the wood to crack with repeated strikes? A threaded tang definitely works, especially if you add some glue or cutler's resin, but nothing quite beats a peen. It just feels more secure.

Holy Guacamole!!! That is unbelievable! Congrats on one of the most beautiful pieces on the planet. You could post a few thousand pics of this sword and I'd still be asking for more. Wow!

Just arrived: Longquan "ninja-to" / straight katana / korean sword (?) bought from schwertshop.de. They sell it as a ninja-to but the blade has normal katana lenght and the tsuba isn't square (which I don't like). Not expensive for Germany. Everything tight, not high-end but absolutely ok. Light and good handling. Nice, non etched hamon in folded 1095. ... and with grip band:

New account (for the sake of namechange), but not a new member. Got a new sword from Mateusz Sulowski. A type XXII based on the famous 'dresden' sword owned by Heinrich V of Saxony.

Not a fan of Heinrich V at all, but he did have a nice sword. Yours looks to be an excellent model of it, Knightx. Congrats on that one!

Thanks! Not the full ensemble, but I wanted to illustrate the size disrepancy between a few sword types. And Lord Newport, had no clue. Doesn't really matter though. I was viscountx. Just a minor name change.
