" YoJimbo " 1961 Akira Kurosawa ( a classic worth watching!)
" King Aurthur Legend of the sword " ( 2017) the kids love it. The sword is "magical" but the characters are first rate.
I second " 13 Assassins " by Takashi Miike, a little gruesome, but good. One would think they should have kept shooting arrows in the final showdown, but you wanted a sword film, and that is one heck of a sword film.

2nd the praise above for Excalibur and the 1973 Three Musketeers.
But for recent pure-sword "movies", has everyone seen Adorea Olomouc Youtube channel?

Mutant Chronicles Swords - undead - spaceships, nice WW1, steampunk, metropolis, graphic novel vibes One of the best B-pictures. I just wonder if it was meant to be a B-picture or something (or much more) went wrong.

The Messenger: The Story of Joan of Arc. I recorded it and cut all scenes without her wearing armor before watching it. 51 minutes of cool battle scenes! "Andi's cut" Worked also well with Pearl Harbor and Arn.

The Cross Of Iron (oder Steiner – Das Eiserne Kreuz , zu Andi). Possibly the most quintessentially realistic war movie ever made.

No rewatch but I just watched 3rd and 4th season of Westworld. Nice katana action. Remembers me a bit of Isaac Asimov's robot stories universe.

This is one of the movies that is much sillier in german than in english like Hot Shots (can't remember the how original french was, and rewatching isn't an option since I have lost all my french ability). Don't watch the 2001 remake, it's garbage. Thanks for reminding me, I bought the set recently and haven't watched the 2016 3rd part yet.

Don't watch the 2001 remake, it's garbage. The american version is indeed scary. It's like trying to watch the english dub of some favorite anime. Ironically though it's how I found out the french film exists.

Haven't heard or spoken french in over 20 years, so I might be able to follow a childrens show now, maybe...Never was good at it thanks to crappy teacher anyways (almost the whole class was riding a barely passing grade - even the guys from swizerland)
I think the problem with the 2001 film is, that it tries to be serious when the source material is totally bonkers insane.

Oh. Yeah I get that. I took high school german and had a basic ear for the language for a while, but almost 30 years later it may as well be chinese. Still know my alphabet and lots of vocabulary though.
You ask me it was christina applegate.

. You ask me it was christina applegate. Well, to be honest, yeah, didn't fit at all in there (also not an Applegate-fan). I had seen the 90s movies many times on TV in my youth, the second movie ran all the time, thought I'd watch it, found and watched the 2001, thinking to myself "that's not funny - am I going insane? I remember it totally differently" The french comedies have something very unique.
Not much swordplay in the movies though, except against "modern" tech - I sometimes wish to do this as well.

LOT offered it as an option for an in flight movie. Not my favorite take on Arthurian legend (need to watch Holy Grail again), but certainly a good way to kill 2 hours on a flight back from Warsaw.

Sort of a re-watch...last night I watched the director's cut of "Kingdom of Heaven." I've had the blu-ray disc for some years now, but I never got around to watching it. Much longer than the theatrical version, but holy crap, what an epic film!

Yup! I was sooo hoping for such an DC of Robin Hood.
Btw Snyder's DCs of Batman v Superman and Justice League are extremely much better the same way. Better story telling and better special effects esp. in Justice League.
