Mine came in, and I'm a huge fan. It cuts like a monster! I never review a sword until I've done long term testing on it, but so far it feels wonderful, cuts wonderful, looks wonderful!

Mine also arrived and I feel very positive about it. There is only one slight cosmetic defect, the back spine of the grip is very slightly off-center, but it doesnt seem to inhibit feel or function. The handling of this sword is as good as everyone else has reported so far. Very agile for the PoB. My stats are as follow; Mass: 840g PoB: 7in, 178mm Base thickness: 8.85mm 1/4 thickness: 4mm 3/4 thickness: 3.4mm Tip thickness: 2.3mm It is agile enough to recover from a strike, or to maneuver with, without undue exertion. It's actually nicer than my original Blücher. One minor reservation is that I wonder how well the grip wrap will hold up to use, it doesn't feel like the leather is particularly tough. We will see. The scabbard is very nicely done, the brazing of the fittings is very clean and a good period touch. I'm more than satisfied so far, I'm glad this long sought after product has finely come to market. I know I have been waiting 15 years myself. Now I might need a second one.

I wish they also had an optional leather scabbard to go with it, I know it's not period, but I don't like the metal ones because it can dull the edge easily.

Agreed on the leather scabbard option. Actually I’d prefer a leather covered wooden scabbard.
Question for those who have received theirs: Does the leather washer sit below the base of the blade (which would leave a gap between the blade and the guard if it was removed) or does it fit around the base of the blade?

I'm not sure I understand completely, but the washer just slides down over the blade. It comes without it on. There is no gap though.

I've been curious about sabers like this for a bit but never felt comfortable with the idea of handling antiques. Between this and the LK Chen 1860 saber it may be time to dip my toes into the water.

Mine's already got a couple of dulled spots because of the considerable number of draws I've done. I've been careful, but it's a fairly tight fit and the edges have touched the sheath here and there. I'm definitely going to be making a wooden/leather sheath for mine when I get home in a couple of months and have access to a shop. Mine won't be at all period correct, but it'll keep the edge from taking damage so easily.

I don’t care how carefully I draw and return a sword in a steel scabbard they dull. I finally separated the two. That makes me appreciate more what the troopers went through in a combat area drawing and returning numerous times a day, not to mention the abuse they would get from just the carry on horseback. This was a major complaint of the Brits, but other nations had to experience this as well.

they must be getting a good number of these coming in and as large (or larger) a number being ordered. On Monday they said 4+ weeks estimate, and it shipped today. Still not enough delivered to change the status to "in stock" for a significant amount of time.

Mine is 8.8mm at the ricasso, 4.7mm about 6" up, and 2.9 at the end of the fuller.

This is a great repro saber! Nice broad blade with wide deep fullers Strong non-linear distal taper from a thick ricasso to an appropriately slender and uniform foible The proximal fuller termination has a proper vertical (rather than circular) termination. Very lively in the hand! Marvelous handling! It probably cuts like a lazer sword thru NPC droids.
The scabbard is also quite well done. All its components are present and proportional.
There is a tasteful Windlass maker mark laser etched on the ricasso.
As for nit-picks? The fuller edges and terminations could be a little better defined. They definitely do not have that typical washed out or smeared look, though. The langets seem a bit thin to me. I don’t own an original, though, so originals might possibly have been built this way. Umm.. no counter polish.
Anyways, this is the best repro 19C Euro cav saber I’ve ever encountered. The price is phenomenal, especially with the typical MRL discount. So you can pretty much bet this thing will be inexplicably discontinued soon. Get a few while you can!

MRL discount, you say? Do tell. MRL offers SBG members a 10% discount. The member needs only to type in the code in the appropriate box. Last year, 2022, it was SBG2022. It changes each year and so far as I know the new code has not come out this year, but can guess.

Same issue on mine with the backstrap seeming off center a bit. Whatever they dyed the leather with is staining my thumb. Scabbard is not quite square with the grip guard when sheathed. Couple of minor rough places on the guard. Edge grind is very even throughout. Blade nice and straight. Very light and agile. At this price, 4 1/2 stars out of 5.
