Very much looking forward to everyone's reviews. Did anyone order the Falchion? Every other sword has been ordered by someone in this thread. So we should have first hand accounts by this weekend!

Sharp blades are good to have, if Shire-folk go walking, east, south, far away into dark and danger.

Well gentleman, the day is here! I think it's love at first sight! The only measurements I couldn't take were distal tapering cause I'm a fool who doesn't own calipers but this product does meet the standard retailer specs with only two exceptions. The width of the blade seems to be at 2 1/2 in. instead of 2 3/8 in. and the weight of the sword stands at 2 lb/12 oz as opposed to 2 lb/15 oz. I don't find that to be a problem. On to the good stuff! Holy crap, I think Windlass hit it out of the park here! This boy wants to cut you! He has heft to him but not unwieldy and I think would pair great with my buckler. The blade has excellent spring in the steel and flexes where it should at the 1/3 of the blade. The peen isn't Albion level polish but I don't think anyone here expected it to be and it's still good looking to me. Fit and finish is also really good as well. No looseness or rattle in the hilt and only a very small gap between the front of the blade and the quillon. The leather on the hilt is wonderfully bound on the hilt and scabbard with a tight fit and no rattle between the sword and scabbard. Also, good looking chape. My sincere thanks to everyone around the world who helped bring these wonderful swords to us freaking nerds! Is it my imagination, the photo angle, or is the blade off center to the right?

The grip is lined with the spine since it's singe edged and it is in line with the original. I understand it's to aid in cutting power. It does thow you for a loop seeing it on an arming sword, right.

It is supposed to be offset, since it is a single edge blade. Its like that on the original Ah! Just watching the above video now... Never mind!

I think so. I don't have that skill set to give a definitive answer though. Let me get some pics. Edit: Only way I could get a good picture, hope this helps.

It looks great! Keep us updated on its performance!

Anyone here have a link to a comprehensive guide to sword belt tying? I know there are a lot of cool ones out there, but can't find any guides.

I pulled the trigger on it. To everyone in the UK if you sign up to the Royal Armouries newsletter you instantly get 10% off & create an account you accumulate points which give you money off in the future on other purchases. For example the purchase of the falchion would give me enough points for £30 off my next purchase.

Okay looks like on the Royal Armouries website all these swords have just jumped up in price..... The falchion by £150. Anyone know what's going on? Actually glad I bit the bullet when I did because I think that extra £150 would of made me turn it down.

Don't have the sword in my hands yet but £745 seems steep.
I was torn between a Landsknecht emporium Messer & one of these.
With customs & shipping + a scabbard I didn't feel there was much of a price difference. The fact thefalchion was already in the UK so didn't have to deal with the usual shipping woes helped my choice.
However that extra £150 I think would make me go for the Messer.

My sword will come today, but for some reason FedEx is requiring a direct signature. I work from home so this should not be an issue, but I'm sure some of you folks have experienced a delivery driver before who doesn't even bother making an attempt to ring the bell or knock on the door.

I have yet to put it through its paces, but based on first impressions, the hype is real on these swords!! Pictured next to my RA Albion 1.33. It handles like a dream, and the blade geometry hangs with the BEST of them! The presentation is top notch (though I'd rather they chill out on the presentation and knock a few bucks off, but they have a brand to maintain). When you open the box, it feels like a high end collector's piece. The edge is so close to being sharp, I don't imagine spending more than 15 minutes getting this thing up to cutting like a monster. Pretty from every angle. Don't let the Windlass tag fool you (though the Windlass tag on this one is a premium mark, well earned). The scabbard is budget plus level, more than serviceable enough. It's worth full asking price, easily! Assuming it holds up to heavy use which I will proceed to do. Any discount you get on top of retail just sweetens the deal. Also remember to sign up for a MRL or Atlanta Cutlery rewards program. I forgot and left some money on the table. This is a game changer! I can't wait to test this thing! If it stands up, these will be my go to beater swords.

I just couldn't wait... For those of you wondering about the edge that comes on these, I cut a water filled Pringles can with the FACTORY EDGE! I didn't have any water bottles or milk jugs. This is a relatively easy target, but let me assure you the edge is very fine on these swords. It's only a bit of sharpening and the last bit of honing that's left up to you. I just reprofiled a CS shamshir and Peserey Shamshir, both of which were supposed to be "sharp" and I'm certain this sword will be a lot less work. Everything up until the final edge is perfect! The other swords had sharp edges but horrid primary bevels. One pass on a medium grit and a few passes on fine grit will do. No rough grit needed. UPDATE: I found an old water bottle and cut clean through it with the factory edge! Again must emphasize, anyone worried that the edge doesn't come sharpened, dont worry! It's so close to being sharp. It's already sharp enough for backyard cutting if you have good edge alignment. Super excited!
