I just received mine!
Sharpening this won't be too hard. The edge is just like a butter knife, but thinner. It's going to take a chisel-like edge because my sword is predominantly a thrusting weapon. BOY OH BOY is the blade stiff. The second half of the blade is super narrow and is basically a bayonet/ ice pick. Nasty piece of work.
The packaging job was fantastic. I absolutely love the box this came in. It was very secure, attractive, and reuseable too.
The sword itself has no obvious issues. Everything looks straight and tight. No cosmetic issues. Blade fits nice and snug in the scabbard, and the scabbard itself is a significant upgrade for Windlass.
Fit and finish looks much better than usual Windlass fare. The octagonal grip on my longsword is really magnificent.
This is a major step up from Windlass and I think all involved ought to be congratulated.

I just couldn't wait... For those of you wondering about the edge that comes on these, I cut a water filled Pringles can with the FACTORY EDGE! I didn't have any water bottles or milk jugs. This is a relatively easy target, but let me assure you the edge is very fine on these swords. It's only a bit of sharpening and the last bit of honing that's left up to you. I just reprofiled a CS shamshir and Peserey Shamshir, both of which were supposed to be "sharp" and I'm certain this sword will be a lot less work. Everything up until the final edge is perfect! The other swords had sharp edges but horrid primary bevels. One pass on a medium grit and a few passes on fine grit will do. No rough grit needed. Super excited! I've seen factory edges do that if the geometry is correct. Single bevels, gentlemen. Single bevels.

Well the increase in price is obviously not something I'm excited about, but I still think it's more than fair for what it gets you.
Congrats to everyone on the new swords, and thanks for the reviews! Very excited about these now.

The price is still the same here in the States.

OOOH, I almost went with that model. I've been having mild remorse for not getting it.

Glad everyone is getting pumped after receiving theirs. I'm always of the opinion that I'm a goober that's too easy to please. Can't wait to see some pics of the Wakefield and two-handed swords! I'll see if I can find a suitable belt on KOA later and try my hand at some simple sword belt knotting with this one.

Thanks for the updates guys, these do seem to be quite nice items.
Unfortunately I just saw the twohander is 995£ at Royal Armouries... I just cannot put that much towards this as I will rather use it for travelling & antiques. As there would be 24% tax on top of that...
I think the items are better than I thought they would be but also price, at least at Royal Armouries, seems to be also much higher than I initially thought these would go for.

I reckon many people will balk at the UK price. Is there a political reason it may have been raised in the last few hours? Is the Pound Sterling in free fall or something? I think they should proffer some explanation for this, especially if it will deter many people from buying.

Completely understandable, the U.S prices seem fair to me but I wouldn't likely pay the U.K. price either. Maybe there is some kind of import tax or something like that that would explain it? Pardon for my ignorance.

Pardon for my ignorance. Import tax on 1:1 replicas of ENGLISH swords from an ENGLISH museum sold by an ENGLISH vendor? That's the most English thing ever. The regulation regarding sword import has been pretty unbearable for so many English folks. So I'm not disparaging English folks so much as I am expressing frustration with their regulations.

I have yet to put it through its paces, but based on first impressions, the hype is real on these swords!! Pictured next to my RA Albion 1.33. It handles like a dream, and the blade geometry hangs with the BEST of them! The presentation is top notch (though I'd rather they chill out on the presentation and knock a few bucks off, but they have a brand to maintain). When you open the box, it feels like a high end collector's piece. The edge is so close to being sharp, I don't imagine spending more than 15 minutes getting this thing up to cutting like a monster. Pretty from every angle. Don't let the Windlass tag fool you (though the Windlass tag on this one is a premium mark, well earned). The scabbard is budget plus level, more than serviceable enough. It's worth full asking price, easily! Assuming it holds up to heavy use which I will proceed to do. Any discount you get on top of retail just sweetens the deal. Also remember to sign up for a MRL or Atlanta Cutlery rewards program. I forgot and left some money on the table. This is a game changer! I can't wait to test this thing! If it stands up, these will be my go to beater swords.
Thanks for the update. I just ordered one while MRL still has them in stock.
