Let’s compare the performance of the latest large bowie knife design by Brother Nathaniel and made by Purna Darnal (GGK) to the two models sent to me previously for review, by executing quick fighting-style slashes on a 4-lb pork shoulder.
This competition cutting bowie is the lightest and nimblest of all the dozens of bowie knives Nathan has designed so far, featuring a complete flat-ground 12.7” blade (18” overall) with zero convex edge geometry. It weighs only 1 lb 3 oz (just over 500g). The cross section is a complete V-shaped wedge from the spine to the edge. Furthermore, to assist with the handling and reduce weight, it sports an incredibly prominent distal taper from a whopping 8.4 mm at the base of the blade, tapered linearly to 5.7mm at midpoint, and 1.9mm at 1” from the tip. Not only is it lightweight for its size, but is lightning fast in snap cuts and have excellent point control.
The results on the pork shoulder with thick humerus bone in comparison to the other 2 huge knives is evident in itself. It severed the pork covered in layers of linen completely in half in 1 slash while shaving park of the bone cleanly off, while the other bowie knives (while beasts in their own right) didn’t manage to go as far (although cut very deeply—1” to 1.5” into the bone). Not only that, the competition cutting bowie is the only one that suffered the least amount of edge damage—not even any dulling was detected.
In light target cutting it also shines. It’s truly effortless to cut and thrust with. Like all Brother Nathaniel’s designs it features a long false edge also razor sharp.
I also demonstrated its fit and finish with close-up footage. The grip design is exceedingly ergonomic and elegant, even more so than the other two bowies, which is a tall order. This bowie is undoubtedly the finest of Brother Nathaniel/Purna Darnal’s offerings so far.

Just a wonderful blade. Fighting wise, it's death on foot.

God, I love it. Still pretty much speechless. Has ever before a blade as cool been brought to life? I'm not sure.
Another excellent review, of course.

It looks like LL is learning more and more about geometry. Of his bowies that one impresses me the most by far. A very desirable bowie. I shouldn’t overlook Purna’s skill either.

Thanks guys! I just feel lucky to be able to test this knife, Bro Nate and Purna really knocked it outta the park this time. It’s weird to say this because that’s usually the case with each design, but this time it’s an 11 out of 10! The most refined example so far!

Took it out again today and cut some perrier bottles combined with half-inch hardwood dowels. Easy work. Probably the cleanest cut one can execute on a target like this, completely in line with what I’ve observed during my testing of it👍

Still keeping the sharpeness with just a couple dozen strokes of the sharpening steel after each session. Great to hear! It's definitely a blade for a winner!

UPDATEIf anyone is interested in ordering this bowie from Purna, please pm me first as there is a few changes/additions that I think are important to implement on this model. Just FYI, but The Heretic here is supposed to be essentially the version 2 of this bowie and has implemented the changes already. sbg-sword-forum.forums.net/thread/68727/heretic-custom-guard-fighting-knife He has time to make stuff for others with all your fancy orders?

I sometimes worry our Brother Nate is going to break Purna, but that has not been the case at all. Purna is super efficient.
