I'm imagining a kind of spike or rondel dagger type weapon here.

I'm imagining a kind of spike or rondel dagger type weapon here. And you would be very right, lol. It was either that or the awl you see on Victorinox folding knives...and that JUST did not seem where you are currently flying.

Nice nice, I am digging it. I love the twisted looking handles, like a narwhale tusk. You guys have a great taste on the ornate aspects of design, but the practicality is even better. That woikd be a sick thruster. An awl to even a dragons skin

One grip is shinier than the other. Is that because one is unpolished, lighting, the nature of the horn, or? The points appear wicked. As usual Purna is Purna and that fellow was a good find. Here’s hoping your personal problems are soon solved, if not already.

Ooooh damn, those are the most gorgeous daggers I've ever seen. Wow, just over all perfect Thanks bro, I been going through some dreaded trials and tribulations (Like everyone else has to eventually) but it's been gnawing away at me and this is such a welcome distraction for these to be finished, lol. I always feel like some of my best designs come from when I am in the worst places. It happened this same way with the damascus khukuri with the silver fittings and skulls on the scabbard based on a nightmare. It's an odd thing. Weirdly, me too lol. I'm going through some tough times, it's usually when I start drawing to take my mind off stuff in my life

Quite possibly the most gothic stuff you've designed yet! They both came out dripping with gothic flavor. Well done.

Wow, from head to toes, they're just stunningly beautiful.
Hope everything works out well for you, Brother Lance.

When you need something stabbed and it needs to not break. Perfect for armor clad vampires.

So if one of them is the "Awl of the Father", does that make the other one the "Awl of the Mother" to keep it Awl in the Family? great designs and great work by the bladesmith

I still cannot decide which one I prefer. I believe they are equal in beauty. If they swapped fittings, I think the brass would look marginally better with the black horn, and the copper would look marginally better with the rosewood. But then we'd be back to square one again as they'd both be equal in beauty.

New dagger is the best day! Behold the latest design of Brother Nathaniel (The Levin Lance) realized by Purna Darnal. An armor-fighting dagger taking strong inspirations from late medieval and early Renaissance rondel daggers and some Germanic quillon daggers but with unique designs of a leaf-shaped blade like the Roman gladii and also a ricasso with copper-inlayed sigil of the Lodge and decorative grooves. The grip has a writhen pattern on a tapered cone-like geometry, ends with a hand-carved pommel cap with rose pattern and heart-shaped perforations! As you can see, two versions are available--one with brass furniture and wooden grip, the other one with copper furniture and buffalo horn grip. The blades on both daggers are thick like rondel daggers, starting at 8mm at the ricasso, and have a convex distal taper, gradually thinning out, though still keeping significant thickness near the tip, with a strong diamond cross section and striking central ridge. Stats: Awl of the Father (brass+wood): weight: 411g (14.5 oz) blade length: 28.2cm (11.1") overall length: 42.7cm (16.8") distal taper: 8mm at the base 5.6mm at 5" from the base 4.6mm at 9" from the base 3mm at 1" from the tip profile taper: 30.4mm at the base 26.6mm at the flared-up portion of the blade 24.3mm at the waist 15.7mm at 2" from the tip Awl of the Father (copper+horn): weight: 480g (1 lb 1 oz) blade length: 28.3cm (11.125") overall length: 43cm (16.7") distal taper: 8mm at the base 6.3mm at 5" from the base 4.6mm at 9" from the base 3mm at 1" from the tip profile taper: 30mm at the base 25.6mm at the flared-up portion of the blade 23.6mm at the waist 16mm at 2" from the tip

Sharp blades are good to have, if Shire-folk go walking, east, south, far away into dark and danger.

Man! That copper and horn combo along with that blade shape REALLY melts my butter! Never seen anything quite like it! Are there going to be more for selling or is this strictly a, "Neener, neener, neener! Like what I got!" type scenario?

I agree, the copper and horn one, in particular, looks fantastic. rschuch - you could almost certainly contact Purna and ask him to make you one, although The Levin Lance might want to confirm.

Anything you see on any of my threads or anything, it's all stuff that can be made for you. If I am sharing it here its because you have can have a duplicate made. How much would one of these set a fellow back?

I agree that $350 for one of these daggers is a good price. The only remotely competitive option is Tod Cutler, but there's problems with that comparison: 1) Tod Cutler is unsharpened, and even if you pay for sharpening, it's a secondary bevel and still not particularly sharp. Everything Purna makes is very sharp with excellent edge geometry. 2) Tod Cutler's daggers are nowhere close to as decorated as these. 3) With Purna you get a wood-core scabbard, as opposed to Tod Cutler's leather sheath. Don't get me wrong, I love my Tod Cutler daggers. They're some of the best value on the market! I think The Levin Lance has really knocked it out of the park with this design, and Purna did the same in crafting the final pieces. If my budget wasn't completely shot right now, I'd heavily consider buying one of them. Where else are you going to get such a beautiful fantasy dagger that still manages to incorporate historical design philosophies for such a low price?

Daggers of similar complexity can be had from Tod’s Workshop for roughly 700-2000 British Pounds.
