Hi All, This is Not a whining/back-lashing post, but rather, a warning directed to all fellow sword enthusiasts who may have the intention to patronize WeaponEdge.. Be warned. Here's a narration of what had happened: After a week of sending an email inquiry to WeaponEdge, a certain Mr Chouhan replied that they have the NCO Shin-gunto; I made it clear to him that I'm just a collector & would not purchase bulk, but he replied (quite quickly this time) that he could sell it to me even in loose quantity. As the WeaponEdge did not display its price list online, I then asked for the price list & the mode of payment which Mr Chouhan responded rather promptly - so far so good. However, he informed that Weaponedge only accepts money transfer via Bank through Tele-Transfer & proceed to give me the relevant account details. As much as I dislikes Tele-Transfer (because I don't have any form of security & also there're hidden cost entails), I simply wanted the NCO Shin-gunto too much, so I decided to take the risk and T.T. the payment as told. As usual, I also dropped Mr Chouhan an email to inform. Mr Chouhan replied the following day that he'll check & let me know as soon as he receives the money I T.T. to him... and as you may have guessed it.... this was pretty much the LAST THING I HEARD FROM HIM! A couple of days later, I thought Mr Chouhan could have forgotten my payment inquiry, so I subtlely 'reminded' him by requesting the price list of yet other products shown on WeaponEdge online catalog; and strangely, Mr Chouhan replied with the price list the following day, but did not mentioned abt the payment status! After another week of waiting & still NOT hearing any updates from him / WeaponEdge, I susequently wrote 4 emails to inquire about my payment status, at regular intervals (on 25 Sep, 30 Sep, 2 Oct & 4 Oct) and till date, I've yet to hear anything from Mr Chouhan / Weaponedge! As much as I want to believe that WeaponEdge is a legitimate & trusty business, I can't help but grow doubtful as days go by. Unlike Credit Card payments which I could jolly well claim back my payment citing 'non-delivery of goods', I pretty much can't do anything with tele-transfer, I guess. I'm keeping my finger crossed that my orders will miraclulously arrived at my doorsteps some day, but until then, be warned! Pls do Not mistook this as a Back-lashing Posting directed at WeaponEdge, no, it is simply a narration of my personal encounters with them so that you guys are warned; but if you have recent Positive encounters with them Personally, pls feel free to disagree & post likewise. I'd loved to have some hope & encouragement Meanwhile, I'll keep you guys posted once there's any updates from Mr Chouhan/WeaponEdge. Larry

One word M'friend.... Ouch! Though I do respect you for taking the higher road and not becoming overly-belligerent towards Mr. Chouhan and/or WeaponEdge in general. You've shown not only a strong sense of maturity, but also much patience and sympathy as well. So to put it simply +1 for being a "good sport" about it. I hope that your sword will arrive to your doorstep as soon as possible.

I seriously hope you will have your sword, and this for two reasons: first, because I sympathize with you on a stressful turn of event, secondly -on a more personal perspective- because I also just transfered money to them for an order...and was supposed to have news these days...and nothing yet (it's already nightime in India as I write this)...
Thanks for informing us Larry,
Reflingar

Have either of you phoned the company directly yet?
Considering their site is not set up for retail of single pieces, it seems to me they have gone out of their way to handle the requests in the first place. I do agree communication can be a big issue but if neither of you have taken the next step and gotten on the phone with them, I have to say you are grousing a bit loud.
Have either of you communicated at all with the Stromlo entity that has been posting to this forum? I did suggest this elsewhere. If nothing else, it would give you a character reference for the company.
Cheers
Hotspur; I know I would be on the phone if I was really that concerned

Thanks for the tip Hotspur, indeed that is the next step...and I will follow it. I was considering it today but it was too late in India, have to check when is the appropriate hour here to call during business hours there...
I must admit it has not been as long for me as for Larry that I had news from them...but it is a bit nerve racking isn't it...I sure hope everything ends well...
Reflingar p.s.: I didn't want to sound like I'm grousing, just a bit worried.

Hotspur's on the right track. Give 'em a ring. When I was looking at a sword of their's, email communication suddenly stopped for almost two weeks right in the middle of our communication, then they came back as if nothing had happened. I think it's the nature of their business. As Hotspur pointed out, they seem mainly to be suppliers of large orders to retailers, so I'm thinking they take care of single item (or other very small) orders as they can. Ultimately, I didn't go through with the purchase (for reasons that had nothing to do with the company), so I can't speak to delivery times, etc., but I wouldn't worry about it at this point (assuming you are satisfied after calling them).

Don't get me wrong, Hotspur; No, I'm not grousing, neither am I accusing them of fraud or anything like this... (at this point) and I apologize if I seems to be doing so. I certainly hope things will turn up nicely & the swords reached us.
I'm just trying to caution the many potential int'l buyers - small time buyers - who wish to patronize them. If you are one of them, do wait for our updates before jumping in, that's what I meant.
I will consider giving them a call but I need to hook up an IDD line first, though timing isn't really a problem with me.
Thinking aloud, I am very 'curious' why they responded so quickly to my 2 inquiries about product price list but failed to even reply when I asked about payment received? Hmm... just coincidence..?

Hi all, Might interest you all that I believe they will come through for you. As I said before, for a single sword, postage, customs fees, tele transfer fees etc can push price beyond retail easily. They have said there have been alot of problems with indian postal service lately, and it takes ages, so much so that I have switched back to DHL even though the cost is huge by comparison. the new site I mentioned is now showing actual USD prices so have a look at www.weaponedge.com/stromlo but the GBP and AUS are off (with all the troubles in currency as well right now!) Anyway this is more of a friendly assurance than a sales pitch, and I just ordered an extra French 1803 Cavalry Saber, and Japanese Shin Gunto NCO in case things dont work out and either of you wants to get one direct from me in the future. Best regards, Rob

Thanks, Rob.. I certainly would loved to get the Shin-gunto from you if my similar orders to WeaponEdge didn't fall through. Btw, I did get Mr Chouhan to quote me DHL shipping, reason being DHL is familiar with our local Customs authorithy practices. My concern is not so much of the shipping taking long, which usu. takes at most 2 weeks; my actual concern is whether WeaponEdge did get my payment so as to process my order Nonetheless, thanks for your assurring comments.

Hi Larry,
I don't think anyone is denying you that concern, it just seems really peculiar to me that weeks have gone by and you haven't picked up a telephone. I guess it is really easier to just post about it but it certainly doesn't answer your question or concern. What it does do is make others anxious, perhaps with little reason to be. Another two business days have gone by and a calll may have answered and addressed your concern. One can't say uinless one has tried.
Cheers
Hotspur; I'm not going to make the call for you but it really would be that simple (it seems to me)

Hello All, As promised, here's a latest update: I received 2 consecutive emails from Mr Chouhan just now: One asking for my telephone/mobile contacts, followed by another indicating that he received my payment & goods will be dispatched soon. He also indicated that he'll email me once goods are dispatched. I'm finally beginning to see some lights at the end of the tunnel P/S: Something strange I noticed - the 2 emails from Mr Chouhan were marked 1st & 2nd Oct and were slotted in between all my other emails in my Inbox!!! There is no possiblity of me overlooking such important emails as I cleared my Inbox frequently! So this led me to believe that WeaponEdge mail server may have cranked up all these while leading to no response!!! Will keep you guys posted when I have further updates. Thanks for reading this thread. Larry

Glad to hear that Larry. Hope the light at the end of your tunnel isn't a freight train coming your way . Bad jokes asides, I hope this will take away your fears about weaponedge, and that you will eventually see the saber you paid for.

Well, I'm sorry to be negative but, these emails seem suspicious to me. why? well, I have seen new emails come in and be sandwiched several days to week in the past and it has always been from the same source: comercial spammers. the spammers do this to get your attention. as far as I know this trick must be done purposefully. this all makes me think the guy sent it with an old date on it so he could say: "gosh I sent you an email right after I got the payment, it must have been delayed" considering what has happened with them up to now I wouldn't feel better until I got tracking info on the sword. I hope I'm wrong but just in case I'm not don't let the pressure off these guys until you get tracking info or receive your sword.

Thanks for the cautioning, Ianflaer.. The emails do seems strange. I understood that fellow forumite who patronized weaponedge, Reflingar, had also just gotten Mr Chouhan's email reply of similar content "Bulk Answering Machine"?? Haha.. Nevertheless, I felt slightly better now that Mr Chouhan indicated he's got my payment, as this will serve as evident of non-repudiation in later development. I will continue to keep my finger crossed. I will be making arrangement to contact him this week. Shall keep you guys posted should there be any further updates.

Hi again, I spoke to weaponedge this morning. I mentioned your concerns and although it was not the same person I think you are dealing with, we are going to put up a link between the sites so that I can handle enquires, orders and dispatch through www.weaponedge.com/stromlo in future esp for US and Australian sales. Again, I am confident you will get them, but the stress and uncertainty is probably worth any difference in cost. If I have to order your sword from India, and you pay your order in advance, it's $20ea off the price. Also I will offer an extra $10 off for anyone who quotes "SBG" when ordering in future too. I'll chat to Paul and ask for all this to go into the other pages. Cheers, Rob

Hi everybody,
It seems this saga comes to an end soon: I had great news from WeaponEdge this week-end: my sabre has shipped! So, after all, everything seems to be getting into place...my sabre is at Heathrow, England, right now...
Thanks a bunch to everybody for their advices and support,
Relieved,
Reflingar
