Hi Edvvard, welcome back. As for the swords, the windlass 15C longsword "May" be a bit whippy, though it's a fine sword that will see you through. Members billiam and Maz have this sword.
The Hanwei Albrecht has some fans here, including me. It's a stiff sword that can thrust as well as cut. It's not as fancy looking as the Windlass but I'd rather this blade. But either are fine choices. For costume - the Winldass 15C. For practical use - the Hanwei. Maybe it will affect your decision to know that the Hanwei scabbard is stiff while the Windlass will be a flexible leather one?
As for the Darksword Armoury single hander - These do not come sharp, and will be very hard to sharpen properly. Also they have been known to be quite hit and miss as for quality of fit and finish, and weight. Might I suggest the Winldass type XIV for a pretty little sinlge handed. A quick grip rewrap will have it looking great. It'll also be very easy to sharpen with 10 minutes of draw filing.
Do some searches as all of these swords have been reviewed / discussed here.
As for the boots - They look cool. You'd also find some options on ebay I'd dare say. search under 'renaissance' and 'pirate'.
Good Luck. You should keep us posted as to how the outfit comes together.

haha... guess this is another important question....
How do I test what I buy? Sorry for being a dummy:(
Also, Does anyone know how to make a gambeson? I'm interested in making one or buying acheap one for another outfit I want to make.
And one more question(sorry for so many, I just think i should ask them before it completely skips my mind to ask the question later) Would it be a bad idea to get wooden practice swords to use so I can practice techniques and such just to get somewhat of a feel? Could I make them without too much difficulty?

Wooden practice swords (wasters) are cheap. I picked up a 1-hander for about $14 from Trueswords.com. I guess you could make one for less if you have the wood on hand, but for me it wasn't worth the time.
"For this costume. I do want battle ready tho - idk why" - does you mean you want them sharp for cutting, or just good for swinging and banging around? I only ask because not everyone necessarily means the same thing here. It can all get a little confusing.
I have a DSA Squire and love it. It is not a lightweight or nimble 1-hander, however. It is pretty heavy and in particular, blade heavy. Which can be good for cutting, but its a bit of a brute. I do much better cutting 2-handed with it - the grip is long enough for me to get a second hand on it. I also haven't seen it for less than about $250 (unsharpened).
If you find a nice bearded axe, let me know... picking up one of those is high on my list! ;D
Good Luck Buff

if you want a lively, good cutting, single hander in our price range you can do no better than the custom tuned Atrim Practical available here: kultofathena.com/product~item~AT303SCT.htmit's not the prettiest of swords but man does it feel great in the hand! this sword has been compared to Angus Trim's makers mark line (and those run $450 on average).

I have to agree here. Just got mine today and it handles wonderfully. Havent had a chance to cut with it, but it's historically plausible, and would be excellent for a costume (if you must have functionality). I can't compare it to the Maker's Mark line, as I have never handled one, but I can say that I believe it is the best value for money arming sword in the sub-300 market. Plus it comes with a leather-wrapped woodcore scabbard, which will make one part of your costume a little bit easier. Mine fits tight, too. TIGHT. I have to turn it upside down and give it a couple of good shakes before it comes loose.

Oh another fan of Geralt of Riva! Nice to know I'm not the only Witcher fan on here. Anyhow! I wouldn't get the Squire sword, its too heavy and long, also slow. If you do want a DSA sword, get the black Knight sword. Look here www.armsofvalour.com/miva/merchant.mv?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=AOVL&Product_Code=DS1305&Category_Code=DSAThey are in stock, fairly good weight, and handel great! The bluing can easily be polished out and turned into a nice sharp. Personally I too would get the Windlass XIV though above the DSA sword though I do have a liking for the black knight. Plus they come with wooden core scabbards unlike the hard leather cheap ones windlass swords come with. Truthfully though, if you are willing to spend a tad more money.... You may be interested in a real Angus Trim. Currently Christian Fletcher has a Makers Mark XIV arming sword in stock that is a mere 2 pounds and very quick! www.christianfletcher.com/Christian_Fletcher/Makers_Mark_Folder/Pages/Type_XIV.htmlIf you don't mind waiting another month or to also, the Valiant Armoury signature line should be in full production. They will have XIIa, XIV, type X, and a roman type swords. They will include full detailed scabbards with belt and cord wrapped grips, fully sharpened for just under $500 which is a great deal considering what you get. $180-$230 won't get you much other than an old Windlass which is okay but for a bit more, you would be much happier. Also, clothing needs! I have bought from Medival Collectibles before and have been very happy with them. They have great gambersons and full range of leather amour meant for SCA and LARP use! www.medievalcollectibles.com/I own one of these.... ![](http://www.medievalcollectibles.com/images/MY5300%20Large.jpg) Fits very well, comfy, just like a winter coat and its easy to move around in! Looks great too and is very tough. Not very expensive either! $110, thats it.
