Hi all, Has anyone had a handle fail or stripped it off? I'm curious what's under the plastic. I assume they are all about the same under the plastic... The reason I ask is the handle is a little large, I want to sand/file it down to fit my ancient hands. Thoughts?
Thanks in advance!

Here is a picture from the 2017 catalogue showing the D-guard machete handle, cutlass probably the same:

There's a tang inside. Mostly full to almost full. So unless you want to spend time breaking off and grinding off the plastic and glue, then build your own fitting pins and grooving, it might be quicker to just surefire and sand a bit off the existing grip.

Perfect! I assumed it had some flavor of flat tang with holes, but the D guard actually being steel is a bonus. I'd planned on just rasping it till it fit better, but didn't want to do a full remove without knowing what's under the hood. Thank you all for the info! (Based on this, I have ZERO fear of the handle flying free of my blade )

Did you ever do anything significant with the grip? I’m pondering various options for mine. The factory grip is too big for my dainty hands.

I used grip band for a better grip but this makes the grip even thicker. The only other thing I did with a CS grip was smoothing the sharp angles of the tak kat machete grip with a creme brulee torch.
