I have a Gen3 Glock 19 and a Browning Hi-Power. Both are great to shoot. The Browning is prettier, but I do love the Glock 19, its just a great all around pistol.

Hold on to that Hi-Power and keep it in good shape. Last I heard Browning discontinued the model so they should appreciate in value due to de-facto scarcity.

There are so many Hi-Powers out there that you cant just make a blanket statement of value. NIB with papers, Made under German occupation, special accessories, All Belgian mfg are all potential appreciation candidates however. Keep the Browning just because...they are firearms history, its a classic and they are excellent shooting handguns.

I will definitely be keeping the Browning. It is a fantastic pistol. Both will be in my possession for a long time.

Also you have that action hero physique...Hollywood could defiantly be in your future. Just think of all the bucks on consumer kickbacks alone! May I suggest "Eraser" as a good first pic. Sadly no action hero looks (another reason for my modesty) and at 5'11" I am far too tall for a remake of Erasure or any Arnold/Stallone/ Cruise action movie. Arnold was 6’1” when he was bodybuilding. One of the tallest bodybuilders at the time.

I was considering on getting it merely for its historical context. The rifle itself sucked. However, it was the first general issued bolt action rifle in the US military.

Imilitary.I guess you need a step ladder to reach the cupboards. 😹 Really, there are advantages to being short. You guys can go in places where us average height people cannot got. But we average height people can go in places where tall people cannot go.

DO NOT EVER MESS WITH A SHORT GUY...They don't play push and shove. They just hurt you and get it over with!

I'm going to go shooting the Glock tomorrow. My brother will be filming me and I will share the video.

Fundementals of combat shooting:
- Stance - Grip - Sight alignment - Sight picture - Trigger control - Follow thru
Most common fundamental I see ignored at public ranges by the untrained: Grip
Best video I have seen on the subject by someone qualified to teach it.

Excellent video, Lord Newport. Definitely the techniques distilled from the crucible of modern shooting sports that could apply to the practical world as well.
The only thing I'd add would be a bullet point zero. Just as he says, getting high on the gun helps you mitigate recoil and everyone has different hands. So, step zero is equipment selection. Find a firearm that fits you when using the appropriate grip with as low a bore axis as possible that still meets your functional needs and preferences.
For example, one of my regret purchases was a Croatian Springfield XD-M. Now, at the time, it was the best fit-to-hand double-stack polymer platform I could find as I have meaty palms but short fingers (there are MANY better fits out there for me now). The problem is the XD and XD-M line have stupidly high bore axises. Even with a high grip you get more muzzle flip than a comparable Glock, CZ (anything), HK VP series, S&W M&P, etc. Gen 5 glocks fit me fine, Gen4 and below, not so well. So, that's why I have a G19 Gen 5 now. CZ will snag me eventually...
That's a chicken and egg problem, though. You need training and experience to know what firearms fit you. You need a firearm to accomplish those goals. True, you could have someone help you shop for and find a good fit for you but gun counter folks are trained to watch for straw purchases so if the conversation isn't handled properly the sale could be denied.
But again, that is an excellent, concise primer of a video. Great pick, and thanks for sharing.

Glad you had a good time. You chose wisely! The Glock 19 is the best of breed in my opinion...the only Glocks are own are a Gen2 and a Gen3 G19. Do yourself a favor and get some solid training with regard to both marksmanship (shooting accurately) and tactical (how to move/fight with the gun) Not to be negative some observations looking at your video... Grip needs work...gun is jumping in your hand, space between strong hand web and tang You are breaking your wrists Fidgeting your weak hand fingers/grip You are slapping the trigger (learn trigger reset and control) Stance looks ok but should be a little wider (shoulder width "fighting stance") Not using isometric tension with your arms to "lock in the gun"
